Newb here, recently acquired a 2006 R52 convertible. How would I know if I have xenon headlights on my Mini or halogen?

 

Xenon have a ballast - but when you look at them,
there is a center lense surrounded by 5? smaller lenses. Non xenon look normal

Pretty sure they are, they look identical to the post above and like my facelift R53 headlights.

Some people might have the old helix ones we sold, but you would see on the back they have NO Xenon ballast. Most we sold also have NO washer jets on them, so you have to have the factory facelift Xenons.

As long as they are the OEM assemblies, yes. The stock halogens are not projectors. I did just remember that there were some aftermarket halogen projectors made to look like the OEM xenons, but they didn’t have washers.

These are definitely the original headlights to the car and definitely have the washer jets, so it sounds like they are indeed xenon. Thanks for the info!

 

Yes. Yours pictured are indeed factory Xenons as deepgrey had posted. Take very good care of them whilst you can. Good original replacements can be hard to come by and OEM replacements are expensive!
