Looking for John's last name , he bought my r53 and jerked me down on the price crying tolls were sooooo expensive ( so his bad planning cost me) , then picked thr car apart like it wasn't a 20yr old car. Btw , I sold him Troll for 9k , and he still was complaining, not like he HAD to buy it...I just hate entitled, immature idiots .
then he gets buyers remorse and used my plate on my car to rack up over 270$ in toll fees , the toll company also refused to drop the fees because i cant find my bill of sale and he never registered the car...
help me find this scumbag

Why did you leave your plate on if you sold it?

 

I left mine on so they could drive it home. Unregistered it with the state 2 days later, it was going to expire in a month anyway, and dropped the insurance day after it was sold. I get why he did it, if driven home. Was still on it when it popped up on FB for sale an owner later. So mine went through 2 owners and on to a 3rd.

 

Too late to be of any help in your current situation -- I'm not unsympathetic to your predicament -- but I thought I'd post my experience to underscore how important it is to once one sells a car to of course safe guard all the paperwork but also if your DMV offers a release of liability form to get one and ASAP then save it along with the other paperwork.

Back in Jan 2018 I sold a car to a local dealer. Had the bill of sale, and paper work. As is my habit I filed them.

At some point was getting bugged by the CA DMV the car's registration was expired and renew or else...

Learned of a release of liability filing and long story short -- I'll skip the CA DMV appointment mess and even with an appointment having to wait for an hour in line -- got a release of liability form.

Don't recall now -- this was back in Jan. 2018 -- what I did but I got the CA DMV to stop bugging me. Maybe just the applying for and getting a release of liability was sufficient.

Couple of years go by. Forgot about the car. Then no longer living in CA I got a letter from some company in CA claiming that I owed several thousand dollars in storage fees for this car. I don't know how the car ended up on a storage lot. And several thousand dollars is about what I sold the car for. (16 years old with 317K miles.)

Wrote a letter to the company to let it know I was not the legal owner of the car and was not responsible for the fees. Supplied a copy of the release of the liability claim.

Never heard another peep.

John's truly a piece of dog$hit. Had it coming. Kind of dude where you have to "take a number" and get in line as a result of his childish behavior. Shouldn't happen again, at least without bitter memories.

karma got him back pretty bad.... i kinda almost feel sorry for him but yet I dont... he will never even get to enjoy my car he bought nor should he after all the trash he talked..
lol buys an aftermarket car , knowing the mods then crys it wont pass his states inspection like that was my problem..
