R50/53 Mini mania shenanigans
Mini mania shenanigans
I’m not much of a poster, but you all have been a wealth of knowledge to me…so, I feel it appropriate that I detail my experience with minimania.
After searching for a camshaft, I ordered an “in stock” replacement for my 03 MCS. I only ordered as I thought it was in stock and it was actually listed as being a sale item. They actually emailed me and sent me a reminder that I’d left it in my cart and provided a link to complete my purchase.
I was immediately notified via email that it would take 2-3 weeks to ship.
Once 2-3 weeks arrived, I reached out for a refund and was told the cam would ship in another 2-3 weeks. After another 2 weeks came and went, I reached out again for a refund.
No explanation was provided, just a cancellation the following day. In fairness, I asked for a refund, so I expected the cancellation. Once the order was cancelled, I inquired as to when I’d receive a refund…up to 10 days to process, I was told. I filed a claim with PayPal and my payment was refunded as soon as the claim was posted.
It’s possible this is an isolated incident and I advised them that it was ridiculous that I had to endure the hassle of checking up on an order for an item they claimed to stock, but they again offered no explanation.
If you’re looking for a cam and order one from them, I hope you’ve got some time to wait for it!

Inventory on most sites now (summit mini mania etc ) is completely unreliable, unfortunately.
ECS/turner, and fcp seem to be the only ones to actually have anything marked in stock actually in stock on a shelf anymore,
and then correct mark that it isn’t in stock when it isn’t.

I absolutely agree and have been dealing with vendors for the better part of 40 years. My beef with the whole scenario was the IN STOCK listing on the site and the fact that in attempted to cancel and was denied a cancellation and simply told to wait an additional 2-3 weeks. I didn’t email and ask for an update, I asked for a refund. I was summarily dismissed and told to wait my place in line. The absolute lack of service was my biggest concern. I understand the stocking process and drop shipping, but this camshaft is their own camshaft, designed by them. I could see if I ordered a wilwood brake setup and had to wait for it to be dropped , but a custom ground camshaft with your company’s name in the title, waiting months is silly…but that’s just my opinion.
It could be worse. My wife ordered two tickets ($1,200) to go see Pink last September. Pink has postponed twice and now the concert won't happen until Nov. of this year, 2024, more than a year past the original concert date. Ticketmaster is a joke because they've refused to refund the tickets because they say the artist has to approve the refund and that's not happening. P.S. Don't get me started on how much my wife spent on the tickets without asking first.
I agree with OP. Since this item was listed 'IN STOCK', it should have shipped same day or next day. Very misleading to list it this way when in fact it was nowhere close to being in stock.
Regarding Ticketmaster, anyone who still buys thru them deserves what they dish out.
