INPA Cable for R53
Did a bit of googling -
Getting prepared for a tune on my slightly modded '04 R53.
This cable was recommended/linked in a previous post here on NAM: . However, the description does not mention/compatible with an R53.
One comment/review stated that it worked on a '06 R50.
Is this the correct cable to purchase? Will this cable, via a remote tune, work with Windows 10?
Thanks.

Curious from your related topic, what tune you're planning on and what source? Personally, I'd worry about "bricking" the ECM/ECU and (literally) be dead in the water by loading a file that subsequently corrupts. So, the INPA cable is prox $36 shipped. How much for the tune sent in soft file format? My conservative nature suggests better instead (for me) to send the entire module to WMW (or comparable competent shop) for $300 total cost plus postage. I'll stay "tuned" (so to speak) on the sidelines...

wmw v Adriancl tunes arnt even a comparison..i got a fully built motor thats Adriancl has tuned and it runs SPOT ON. Bvh, sprintex at 21psi ,550cc injectors and FULL boltons like 3in throttlebody, intake, ported sneed4speed Manifold, no cat 421 headers ectectect. I'd trust Adriancl over anybody anytime unless they were dyno tuning it in front of me..
+1 on Adrian - super nice and super helpful. Adrian's tuned 40+ Minis on this forum. He tuned my 2004 R53 remotely and I couldn't be happier. I also switched to the MS5150 (facelift) ECU version prior to the tune. That would also be my recommendation for better performance.

Thanks for the feedback, all.
Ordered the cable. One with a switch was recommended.
Still going remote..
Notwithstanding:
Still getting great milage as long as cruising RPMS stay within 3500 - 3800 = (228 - 230 mi/tank @ initial red illumination before E). Not so great in heavy stop and go traffic...I can almost, literally, watch my needle drop.
Pick up/performance is outstanding in conjunction w/15% pulley.

When this thread first appeared, I added the cable recommended by @cooper48 to my Amazon save-for-later list. Now that I'm ready to try a couple of things via INPA, I moved the cable to my cart only to find that the expected delivery date is October 11. D'oh! In a somewhat older thread, Adrian recommended a cable but that is now a dead link. I could just choose one from the many available but I'd prefer to have a recommendation from a trusted NAMer. Can anyone point me to a cable that definitely works with the R53? Thanks.

Here is a link to the
and
I purchased from Amazon when adriancl remote tuned my R53.
They are both still available.
Both cables worked flawlessly - However, please be aware that the INPA software cd that came with my cable was an obvious return and the previous purchaser replaced the cd/software with a "home burned" cd, hacked installation version.
It wasn't a problem for me since adriancl remotely installed all the software needed for the tune.
Since I decided not to return the INPA, it maybe unlikely you will receive a hacked software. I purposely did not return it to insure it was taken out of circulation for the next unsuspecting buyer.
Good luck!

^^^ Agreed, I didn't need or use anything other than essential adapter cable hardware with INPA software file provided by @adriancl (downloaded in advance and ready for his use during my own remote tune). Adrian isn't secretive about that file as posted as recently as 5 days ago here: R50/53 NCS-Expert - post #2 Another example of not just having "the tools" but knowing how to use those.

Thanks guys. This morning I installed INPA via the link Adrian posted in the thread MCS4FUN linked above, so I shouldn't have any use for a disc that may come with the cable.
I was aware that I need the INPA cable. Do I also need the ECU cable? I plan to do some coding of simple things like the rear fog light on my own (INPA cable, I assume). I also plan to have Adrian smooth out a couple of rough edges in my tune (very minor flat spot around 2800 RPM under moderate throttle). Does the latter require the ECU cable?

Hello cooper48,
I just purchased the same cable and as it has 4 switch positions (or appears to) what switch position did you use?
Thanks!

All the way right makes sense and thank you! I am trying to eliminate all possible errors on my part. I have installed, uninstalled, umpteen times and yet to get Inpa working. I am using Windows 10 64 bit, may I ask what OS version you are using and what software package you were able to get working?
Thank you again!

Software/system is the same however I've not tried to program with INPA. My sole reason for downloading it was to let Adrian Nastase remote tune my car via the OBD II port.
You might try this video and see if it helps:

I'm totally just starting out on getting INPA - I got the cable recently, but have yet to start installing. I'm running win 10 in S mode - do I have to get out of S mode first? Do I need to run win xp?
I clearly have more reading to do... thanks in advance!

I can't answer all your questions, but I can confirm XP is likely not needed. I'm able to run on a copy of Win7.
