P0130 - NTK 25648 o2 oxygen sensor for the win!

P0130 is fixed with the NTK 25648 o2 oxygen sensor.

You'll read a bunch of threads going down different roads (including mine), some very time and $ intensive, that end up at this O2 sensor being the resolution.

Do yourself a favor and put in one of these at the beginning and see what happens... And with Amazon's free returns it's a no risk thing to try.

Posting this because I wish I received that advice.

So what were the symptoms that lead to this?
New to the Mini world myself.
Rough idle? stalling? running rich/lean? inhibited performance? ...
Inquiring minds want to know

Thx!

My symptom was a P0130 that would come back right away after clearing the code ...Impossible to smog and register a car by me with an engine error code.

My case is simply trying to get a mistreated car running in stock configuration ( or whatever configuration I got the car in.)

Hey Andrew -Thanks for that!
I never owned a car that had an 02 sensor. All were '60s & early '70s air cooled.
I was always "lucky" to be "grandfathered in" - @ registration.

I've never owned an air cooled car ;-)...notice the 1983.5 Vanagon in my signature. The .5 makes it watercooled. I've since installed a Subaru 2.5 in the van. Now over 35 yrs old it also, finally, no longer needs a smog check. Though I'm a stock guy so don't like computer codes even if they are not performance related.

I guess the 81 Suzuki is air cooled (Shrug)

Not to stray off o2 sensor topic (My apologies to NAM)...
I've had many air cooled Beetles, a '68 Ghia, '67 Bus, '78 SB convertible, '67 911 Carrera , '73 914. I stuffed the *** end of all the VW's with 2 liter 914 engines (about 110 hp - w/ cam, crank, big bore, ported polished heads, valves, Weber 44s)... I am infatuated with my R53, but I do miss how easy my air cool's were to work on and diagnose. I finally got a glimpse of an engine in a '85 Vanagon. In 40 years I had never seen (water cooled) one.
'Met a guy who stuffed a Rabbit GTI engine in his (show condition) 1963 Bus. I couldn't figure out for the life of me where he mounted the radiator - underneath the floorboard - Very cool!

I see you live in NM.
I moved to ABQ (The heights), in '87. Lived there for 9-10 months before moving out to L.A....I loved ABQ. The people there were so friendly towards me. That was something I wasn't used to....(coming from FL).
Was back there in 2017. Man, it had changed. So much busier than it was 30 years prior.

You got off easy. I had to replace my exhaust manifold an catalytic converter today. My gas mileage was horrible an was getting random misfires.
Sounds like inpa worked.

INPA, yes it worked. THANK YOU again for setting that up for me!!! FWIW, I am getting about 25.5mpg with moderate driving.

What codes were you getting with those symptoms?
