Will storing my car with non ethanol fuel be detrimental?

I would add sta-bil to the fuel before storing.

My neighbour said if you store the vehicle with non ethanol you don't need stabil.
I don't know.

stabil has been around for 50 years <according to their web site> ....... predates eth' issues . . .

NOT an endorsement OR recommendation . . .

I stored my car for 20 months with ethanol fuel and stabil. It worked fine for me. I also sprayed some fogging oil in the cylinders, changed the oil, put the battery on a tender, and spread rat poison around the car to keep rodents away. I had flat spots on my tires that smoothed out in less than a mile, but that was my biggest problem.

I store my car every season and never once bothered adding anything... fill the tank up full so least amount of oxygen is in there as possible , yes ethonal free gas stores better so if you can get that get it. 4 months isn't going to cause the gas to go bad. It has a minimum shelf life you could say of 6months befor it starts breaking down and separating.
I've just always started it up once a month and let it get to temp and shut it back down... I live in se Wisconsin and lived in upper Michigan where winters were hard and I never even had an issue with the battery, I just leave it where it is BUT unhook it.. my cooper so far stored 2x years this way just fine.

I'm not in town to start it so it will sit for 7 mos. Came back this year after letting the Mini sit there without a battery tender and the battery was dead. The battery was about 1 1/2 yrs old, but it still went dead. So this time it gets a battery maintainer. The fuel deal I think, just to be safe, I will put some Sta-Bil.

7months , that's a stretch. i would still do a full tank BUT yes add stabil then and add a battery tender or just completely remove the battery..

FWIW, I have two old vehicles that rarely go anywhere. I fill their tanks with non-ETHANOL 93 OCTANE and STABIL. Every two years, I drain the tanks and put in fresh fuel. The gas I drained gets put into our daily drivers and performs without issue.

I've owned my '05 Cooper S for 12 years and never did anything when storing it except removing the battery. I'm from Canada and it's stored for 5 months at most. Starts on the first crank in the spring, let it warm up, do the oil change and drive it to the fuel station to get fresh fuel, done.

I'd worry about fuel stabilizer if you let it sit longer, but a couple months is not that big of a deal.
