R50/53 Foxwell NT510 can't communicate with body modules
If you disconnect the seat / airbag when the battery is still connected, you will trigger the airbag light - which is all in the airbag module / ecu - not engine, transmission or body module / ecu. I have used foxwell 510 to reset that - twice on the e46 - interior swap.
Sorry to hear about the Foxwell scanner but I wish I had INPA or ISTA too! As I understand neither one is easy to set up by a novice (aka: me), and often hear the interfaces are written in German (?)...
Is that true?

I did it using Mike's Easy BMW Tools package. Easier in my opinion. You need to update two folders/files after the installation to have it work with a mini cooper. I also recommend setting up Windows 7 32bit as a virtual machine (via e.g Oracle Virtual Box) so you don't need to have a dedicated laptop for it. Make sure to setup you cable driver properties to COM1 and 1 ms. Strongly recommend using Chatgdp as support, you will be surprised how good it is. DM me if you have issues, I'll try to help out as time permits. Good luck
Hey Thanks @MikeW2 & @ssoliman ,
I followed ssoliman''s link and I managed to get INPA loaded and working. Although I was happy to see it is written in English - have little idea of what I'm doing.
I noticed there was a selection for R50, R52,R53 but only specs for R50 is enabled.
However, I did manage to erase the SAS = tire & DSC warning lights on my clock with ease. The warning lights persistently have reappeared from time to time due to a steering angle fault. I've been clearing the faults with my Foxwell before.
Any idea if INPA has the ability to reset the steering angle to 0.00?
NCSexpert loads but the interface is barren. I didn't spend much time with it - until I can find more info/tutorials on how to use it or even if it was installed correctly.

good to hear you got it working. may come in handy some day.
here is what AI says re the SAS. If only it was this easy. ive never done it so i cant say
connect your cable, open the software, and select your chassis (e.g., E46/E90). Navigate to Chassis > Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), press Shift+F4 to open the compensation/calibration routines, and select the F1 option to reset or calibrate the steering angle sensor, ensuring the wheel is centered.
