I have a check engine light on. I used test mode to look at the fault codes and they appear to be in hexadecimal. All the documentation I find is with OBD code, not hex. Anyone know how to read these things?

I think these codes are BMW specific or something. They start with a number, not a 0 or a letter like all other codes seem to.

ie: 9248F_

That little underscore thing is at the end, as well. Seems like there are a lot of people looking for info on these codes. Having on-board diagnostics can be useful, but no body seems to have the resources.

 

Hex is usually started with 0X , usually....

Maybe your code reader is on the fritz?

 

It's the code from test mode on the Odometer screen. 14.0-14.4. Not enough space for an entire hex number. But whatever it is, it looks hex-ish. I can get it scanned tomorrow, just liked to see if there was a code library somewhere for it. Thanks for your help.

 

Had it hooked up to an OBD scanner and it only pulled one code: P0304 misfire cylinder #4. Wonderful.
