Antenna base leaking

Hello, I have a 2005 cooper s with an aftermarket stubby antenna, and the antenna base is leaking. The weather stripping seal is good condition and s flush against the car, however if I lean the antenna backwards it creates a small gap where water leaks through. I removed the portion of the antenna cover box inside the car and was able to tighten the baseplate nut however it did not seem to solve the issue. I will attach pictures below. Do you have any recommendations on how to fix or any other parts I should replacer it with such as a baseplate cover such as the cravenspeed fin. Thank you in advance for any help!

When I had my E46 the "beestinger" antenna leaked. I used some clear silicone caulk from the hardware store to glue and seal the base onto the roof.
I cleaned up the excess really well so you couldn't tell it was even there. Yes, it's a little redneckish, but it worked great.

Suspecting the antenna base as a source of a leak, I too used a clear caulk purchased at the hardware store and sealed the base. I then took the extra measure and sealed the third brake light and the top of the boot handle as a precaution after reading that those areas may also be the culprits. Sofar so good. Knock on wood. Good luck.

I have the same seeping antenna issue (2005). When I wash the beast , I notice that the interior headliner box...under the antenna is damp...and will occasionally drip a drop onto my rear seat back.

I plan to replace the antenna during the next service.

I have considered caulking ....

Or Penicillin .

Mine was leaking too and I bought a new antenna at the dealer, but the one they gave me is a shark fin and the threads aren't the same as mine and never got around to buying a new nut... body plug has been in the hole for a while now. Some might call it procrastination.
