Antenna: What part do I need to replace?

Hello,

Bought the car with a messed up antenna and I am not sure which portion I need to replace.

I know I at least need the antenna itself and the cover, but do I need all the guts too? I cannot tell if the base broke or if the OEM antenna broke.

I've not had the cover off mine, so not absolutely sure.

You might look at http://realoem.com/bmw/. Put in your make, model, etc, then you can browse the catalog of parts with diagrams. -Looks like there's more than one antenna, so you should check what it shows for your production month/year.

Just a guess, but it looks like the base of yours is broken. Looks like the part that would have the female thread to accept the antenna is taller in the diagram than in your photo.

Ps. I hope I'm wrong, would be great if your base isn't broken. If you put a pair of pliers on the part sticking out, will it unscrew? If its already broken, couldn't hurt.

Thanks for the reply.

I found this pic. It looks like the threaded stud is what snapped. I'm not sure I can turn it since I can't really tell how it's mounted on.

It's just weird how it's broke and it looks like it's made for a philips head.

What year Mini is it? Looks like an 02-04, if so great, if newer these are very difficult. Headliner needs to be dropped on late 04 and on models. Good luck.
