New to the site/Advice on upgrade to MCS

After hanging around for a while, I am finally posting for the first time. I bought an 05 MC in September. I am enjoying it so much that now I wonder how much more fun will I have with an MCS. I now have a good opportunity to upgrade to an MCS. Do you think it is worth it? Thanks for all the advice. I will be posting pictures soon.

I just placed my order for an 05 MCS w/ LSD yesterday. I'll be trading in my 03MC even though I love it. I couldn't believe the difference! Especially the power. They had to pry me out of the car after my test drive so some other folks could get a chance.

you are silly not to. Make the upgrade, power is something that you should not compromise on - even in a small car. The power of the S makes it 2x more fun than the MC. (sorry MC owners )

Welcome to NAM

How much will you loose, if any, by selling your MC ? If you will loose anything can you afford to loose it and if not don't do it yet. If you do it you will love the MCS.

I bought a MCS at the start and love it, done a couple of mods to it , and love it more!!!

Well I've only owned the MCS... but the difference is power. Much of the enjoyment I get from the car would still be there if it was an MC... so then, how much fun is the power?... LOTS OF FUN!

Godspeed.

Dude... the only advantage MC owners have over MCS owners is this.....

They will appreciate the MCS more than non MC owners would.

Get the S. No question. You'll never look back... (not even back at your old MC).

More power is usually more fun IMHO. But why did you get the MC in the first place? It's a fine car in it's own right. Rides better and looks better IMHO.

I still think the MC and MCS are for two different lifestyles. You get the MCS because you want straight up performance, power, and ease of modding. The MC is more comfortable, more economical, and less complicated (both drivetrain-wise, and metaphorically, which means the MC has more "freedom")

I enjoy driving both the Cooper and the S, but for different reasons. When I'm in my S, I'm looking for the next track; with the Cooper, I'm cruising at my own speed; chill.

MCS vs MC

05 MCS owner. Only drove MC once during test drive. Bought the MCS immediately.
I recently read an article in Classic Sportscars about the new 05 convertible. I assume the same is true for the hardtops:

"They enjoyed both cars for different reasons. The MCS's supercharger whine and prodigious amount of power that says throw me into that corner, squeal those tires in a way you could only appreciate. The MCS has the power to match its leech type grip. The MC is more relaxing to cruise along the roads of America. Without the supercharged inner-demon, they could enjoy the view and notice the world around."

My other vehicle is a Yukon. I use it for work and it's like driving aronnd in your living room. Nothing like a MINI on the open highway.

Thanks to all very much for the feedback. I am now regretting not buying the MCS from the start. Hopefully I will be able to upgrade. For now I will continue to drive the MC like if it were an MCS.

I will be posting pictures soon. This is a great site. Thanks again.
