Ews issue

I have a 2002 r53. It was running one day and not the next. We have a BMW/MINI code reader and service manual for determining the codes. We have a new battery and have gone through the fuses, connections, etc. Info to let you know we have a clue, lol. Anyway, last night we pulled out the EWS and I think we found the problem. There is some corrosion and 2 pins are broken off.

Now, my question: can I swap out the EWS and reprogram a different one to work with my vehicle? Can I reprogram myself or does it have to be a dealer? Advice, PLEASE.

Pretty sure you will need specialized software to do the programming. Here is a video that might give you some insight into it.

Good luck!
