EP Error Message

Had a bad battery in my 07 Cooper S Convertible. Had almost a brown out when I started the car on a -8F deg. evening. EP error message lit up and rear defroster would not work. Replaced battery and rear defroster now works again as does everything else seem to be back in working order except that I am still getting the EP message and light on. Any ideas on a remedy or do I need to go to a dealer to have the codes read and reset?

The car can do pretty weird things when the battery voltage drops, especially when the cold really kills these batteries. Then storing a code from the low voltage.

You have a MCSA , Aisin 6 speed Automatic, not the one with the CVT transmission & the senor in the ( Non S ).

Looks most likely a code reset which is a scan tool or a MINI dealership. Some have had issues with the paddle shifters doing this.

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback, was afraid of that. My closest dealer is over an hour away and I was trying to avoid the trip.

The joys of Mini ownership is having to travel over an hour to a dealer since their infrastructure is a tad limited to say the least. Not that they are alone and not that there aren't alternatives but until you can find a local wrench who can successfully work on your car you are doomed to a long commute. And you don't really live "in the sticks" as some folks do. Imagine that you are in Liberal, Kansas where the nearest dealer is over 200 miles away. Pack a lunch and an overnight bag for that journey!

Good luck with your code clearing. Hopefully that will be your biggest problems of ownership.
