I'm starting to fish through the wiring mess from the previous owner, and I just about have the harness back down to just the Mini wiring. I acquired me a new radio plug to solder the car wires to so that I may use an adaptor kit when I finally install a radio myself.
While pulling the junk wires out of the dash, I found this XM connector until the drivers dash. It's wired directly to the ignition, but it doesn't seem to fit anything I got with the car. The car had Nav originally with satellite radio so the antenna is on the dash, but I'm not sure if this is part of the original install or a later addition.
I’m pretty sure the OEM satellite radio setup was Sirius branded, and the antenna was mounted in the stock mast on the roof. None of what you have sounds OEM to me.
The nav does not have satellite radio- that's all aftermarket stuff. The antenna for the nav is built into the sharkfin on the roof.
I guess I should have been more clear, the car was originally equipped with satellite radio per the buildsheet.
So I also have a Sirius antenna(?) at the front center of the dash. I assume this is OE, but here is a picture through the windshield.
I'll pull the XM out since that's confirmed as not OE. I've also found another cable possibly from the Sirius antenna that if OE I'll just ziptie under the dash since I won't use it.
Have a look in the passenger side (US) rear quarter- the removable panel in the boot area. There MIGHT be a SIRIUS box built in back there.
Do you have HK stereo?
Ok, I'll check shortly
The car did have HK, but the amp and lower front speakers are gone due to the prior owners upgrade. He didn't touch the rear speakers and tweeters. No idea what he was trying to accomplish with the thing, all half done at best...lol

The area to which I'm referring might still have the HK amp. If the car had both HK and sirius/xm, the box would be on the other side of the car. I suspect the car had sirius/xm installed at the dealer, not from the factory build sheet- so maybe it was on the window sticker?
The nav cars were not equipped with the antenna needed for the sirius/xm- thus your dashtop installation. You MIGHT find another setup up behind the stereo unit, and it MIGHT have a Blitzsafe adapter box- if so, I'd be interested in buying that.
I looked closer. The messy device pictured- if you de-mummify it, I'll bet you'll find it's a 12 cigarette lighter plug that someone has rigged to 12 constant (or key-switched) power. IN that case, I suspect you'll find something plugged into a AUX input.
Ok, I checked the passenger side rear qtr panel and there is nothing in there. No amp or other box that might for Sirius. Just two unused harness plugs.
There is nothing else behind the dash, when the aftermarket radio was installed I'm not sure what they were thinking. They must have pulled the box you spoke about at the same time they cut the main harness...lol
So Sirius on the dash and the XM plug is indeed a 12v plug someone has rugged. Umm see where it goes for power and unplug it. The Sirius piece may have to stay since that cord goes up into the dash and not as easy to track. I'll look further for it next time I pull the dashpad.
That big connector is for the HK amp. The smaller plug is for the CD changer or factory Sirius box. If you keep poking around there, you'll fine an even smaller one- three conductors- for the same purpose.
So the stuff you have under the dash is aftermarket wonder.

Copy that, it seems this car has a mishmash of stuff...lol
Thank you for your help! I'll pull all that junk out of there so it's out of the way.
