MINI owners/Pilots

Seems like everytime i go to an airport there are MINI's scattered all around the ramp, are there really THAT many MINI owners that are also pilots? I myself am a pilot and no matter which small plane airport i go to i seem to see multiple MINI's are any of u guys pilots? As far as i can tell a lot of us pilots think the same lol

Hubby used to have a private pilot's license, and his cousin is married to a retired commercial pilot who used to fly for United. On Xmas Eve, we found out that the amongst the pilot-cousin's buddies, many of whom are also into motorcycles, about 5 or 6 have gotten MINIs!

i don't know about pilots necessarily liking minis. mine is the only mcs i ever see at the place where i fly. the other cars are the usual range, from suvs to corvettes.

PPSEL here. Have also noticed other pilots driving MCs and MCSs. Must be something with the car.

I'm not a pilot, but was a Navigator/Observer for CAP Search and Rescue for several years.

Many people riding in my MINI at night say the dash looks like an aircraft cockpit, with it's orange backlighting!

and MCS Owner

For almost 2 years the only one at the local airport with one, lots of folks stopped me to have a look see. Now another pilot for the same company has become an owner - anniversary gift from his wife! It must be the old school toggle switches that draw us to the car

Need to change the sig block - currently flying a medium multiengine helicopter.

CFII ASEL here from St. Louis. Our STLMINI club has 2-3 MINI owners that are pilots. Personally, I have always been in love with the design of Minis, new and old. I also really like a cozy interior, and the MINI delivers this without being as cramped as a C172! My 2005 MINI S has better night lighting than most Cessnas I fly as well!

I am the only MINI at St. Charles Muni (3SQ). However, all of my friends at the airport love the car and I have given most of them rides in it.

I think that a car as small and responsive as the MINI appeals to pilots because of the almost direct connection between you and the road. This for me is similar to how I feel when doing Lazy 8's in a C182RG; directly connected to the airplane.

Keep the blue side up!

Aaron

Love flying aerobatics - stands to reason for owning a Mini.

All you real pilots give me break and don't be hard on me , but I built this in 1979 when not many were around. I also had a very small book called "How to Fly." The picture below shows the learning process. Also did a commercial for American Motors, it was lots of fun. Had the plane for just a year or so, then sold it. Good hobbie to be out of.

I'm with the UL guy. I have a lot of GA time, but I like Ultralites better. I fly a MCS to the airpark, and a CGS Hawk at the airpark. Strangely enough, they get about the same milage. I have noticed a lot of UL guys in MINIs. As to your original comment about "pilots thinking a like." I rarely have met 2 pilots that could fully agree on anything.
