Smaller water pump

Hi all, I have an 04 S R53. Replaced the clutch recently, but had 2 surgeries in middle of job and it sat for 4 months. Sprintex supercharger. Can't get coolant system to bleed. Took it to local mechanic and he said water pump's not working. He doesn't want to work on it and I'm 3 hours from nearest Mini Garage or dealer. I can feel the upper radiator hose get hot when thermostat opens. Super charger spins up fine which I understand drives the water pump. Not sure I trust his diagnosis. I'm a real newbie, so any help would be appreciated. What's an easy test to see if water pump has indeed failed. It did sit without water in it for 4 months. With the Sprintex Super charger it's a really tight fit. Is there a smaller exterior profile water pump available if it needs to be replaced? Thanks in advance, Jerry

First thing I would be doing is finding another mechanic. "I don't want to work on it" is not an option a good mechanic has. If you are not wanting to do any of the work yourself...your best bet is to search for a different repair place that works on imports.

I don't mind working on it, just new to minis. I did replace the clutch and am 3 hours from a mini garage. If supercharger works, doesn't water pump also have to work. Just trying to understand what I'm up against. Thanks, Jerry

Thanks, Will make sure I plugged everything back in if I can see them. These things are really tight when trying to work on them. That helps a lot, thanks

I don't know if the sprintex water pump it set up like the TVS, but if it is anything like the TVS, you may want to check the fuse for the water pump to make sure it's getting power.
