Tach/dash issues

Hey guys, I’m having some trouble with my tach on my 06 MCS

Recently my needle has just dropped to zero while driving, it sometimes stays that way for a few seconds All the way to 10 minutes or so. Car still drives fine when it happens but it makes downshifting a bit more difficult.

Sometimes the redline disappears during this also, sometimes but not always it is followed by my digital display disappearing too. I really am hoping it’s Just a short somewhere that’s easy to fix.

however I just noticed that when I turn off my headlights my gauges fade off instead of turning off instantly and I fear it may point to a bigger issue, anyone have any ideas?

Nearly identical to symptoms when mine died. 'Narcoleptic' needle, idiot lights stay on after start and sometimes after removing key after shut down, turn signal light stayed on after completing turn or flashed erratically, sometimes not at all, very annoying. Would also just die altogether for days. With no CEL at initial key "on" that would have been an insta-fail for state emissions.

Got a good used one from Evilbay for <$50 shipped, five minute swap with a torx, everything fixed.
