Well I just posted my problem about my mini and the thread is locked. You know its funny how much propaganda this site is. If the thread is not about kissing MINIs *** then it gets locked. Lets just pretend there are no problems with this car. You know as a consumer I visited this site before getting my MINI, and I was rather interested in the problem threads more than ones just saying how great the car is before I spent a huge some of money on a car. I posted my problem to warn other possible buyers and now its locked. Thats sad. I dont care how much you people are blinded by the cars looks, a brand new DEAD car is a brand new DEAD car. There is no excuse for it. Oh wait your right, what am I complaing about its not that major, its only the transmission! And the car looks so cool Ill just push it everywhere, it doesnt need to work. It amazing how many things people will overlook just to have something that looks good. Well this doesnt work and that doesnt work, but its no big deal cause the car looks good. lol. please. Also about Hondas service, your right I never got that kind of service from honda, instead of waiting three hours I waited a half an hour, and instead of getting a shitty rental I didnt need one cause Honda FIXES there cars. Also the transmission never blew out. lol. If your interested in buying a MINI and your reading this forum please think about it, these people are so brainwashed on here kust because the car looks "cute". Well inside its a POS. Just my 2 cents.

C'mon, NYIllustrator!

Take a day off and think about what you have said here. Now you're just dissing the rest of us who LOVE our MINIs! You have major issues with your MINI and I certainly feel for you! But a little diplomacy and tact and intelligent pressure will go a long way towards resolving them. Honey is always more effective than vinegar!

I hope you get it all straightened out to your complete satisfaction. Best wishes to you!

Cheers!

I wouldn't go as far as saying the MINI is total garbage. I don't think that's true. I would agree MINI customer service at times is completely lacking.

Not sure what you are referring to as to threads here being "locked?" Maybe I don't visit often enough, but I haven't seen any. I have though recieved comments via the "Private Messanger" and in posts from moderators and others telling me how I should speak of the MINI or how to not critisize other peoples' buying decisions or choices in their cars. This to me feels like 1940's Germany (but I wouldn't know first hand as I wasn't born until the 1970s).

To me a "hobbiest" forum is one that let's people speak their free minds (minus foul language or racial/sexist attacks) about everything and anything. A company forum is one that censors and condescends... and I would agree that over the past 6 months this web site has gone more commercial and more censoring.

It is clear by the added banner ads and sponsors that those running this site now look to it for a money maker or at least cover their costs of running the site. I have no clue, I don't know really so i'm just speculating.

I'll continue using this board though no matter the agenda and will continue to call things as I see them and speak my mind. If I accidently (heaven forbid!!!!!) post something in the wrong thread, then oops... I don't think the world will end. If this causes my account to be cancelled or posts to get deleted... I think it shines poorly on those moderating and I will just post under a different account or whatever. The point is that I want to share info, find new info, and investigate MINI updates and will find ways of doing so. Am I a bit childish? probably. But how childish is it to send people messages saying they have no right to say for example that the "HK upgrade is no good" or posting that "this thread does not cover the info you are looking for." Oh my goodness, how silly.

So, if threads are deleted that contain valid info and not lunatic raving... then that is pretty darn cheese. If it isn't true, that's cheese of you to make that up.

Undoubtedly you've had a terrible experience finding out you got a bad transmission on a car you just spent a good chunk of money on! Anyone would! The car is new and should be free of major problems for many many years. You have the right to be angry! I sure would. With every car make and model in the world, there are always horror stories about malfunctions, disasters, bad parts, freak accidents, and so on. Yeah, it sucks, but does this mean that all MINIs will have bad transmissions? No.

There are bugs in the car, most of them minor and most of them bearable for those who choose to drive a first/second year production on a new model. The fact that you researched the car before purchasing it and were aware of problems posted by current owners on this site attests to this. You got bad transmission. Does this mean that what you felt when you decided to purchase this car was wrong? Unlikely. It means you got a bad apple out of the bunch. If it’s easiest for you to bash the car with inflammatory language and profanity, then that’s your choice, but that’s not what this site is about (most likely why the thread was locked, although I don’t know for sure). MCO welcomes discussions about problems and solutions owners experience with the car, but at the same time, this site is no one person’s soap box. I mean that both ways... “MINI Cooper Online is an independently operated web site supporting owners and enthusiasts worldwide. As such it has no official relationship with BMW AG, MG Rover cars, or BMW of North America.” This site was founded as “The definitive source of new MINI information and home to owners and enthusiasts worldwide”.

If all you want is to b%!@* your heart out, talk to a wall. If you actually want to be heard, calm down, compose yourself, and contact MINI USA. Let them know how unhappy you are with your car troubles. Demand a better loaner car paid in advance so you don’t front the cash and wait for reimbursement. Demand the replacement parts and service be performed in a more timely manner than estimated. We feel your pain, but no one here is directly or indirectly responsible for your car troubles. I have a direct contact at MINI USA/BMW if you’d like to take a step in the right direction. Send me a personal message and I’ll let you know who to contact with a complaint. They do care and they will help, but only if you go about it the right way.

Not sure why the original thread was locked. I'll investigate.

I think I speak for many when I say that although I understand your frustration I think your lashing out and blaming is starting to get annoying. You blame BMW, you blame the rental car agency, you blame the site for "censoring" you...

It doesn't seem like you want to fix the problem, it seems like all you want to do is ***** about everything. If the Mini is such a POS then why waste ANY more energy on it? Wash your hands of it and be done with it.

I for one don't want to hear your childish whining so I won't read it. If however you decide to contribute something useful or ask a reasonable question then maybe me or someone will try to help you.

You can't control others, but you can control how you choose to respond to them.

Well it's not locked on my computer. Maybe you should whine and complain about your computer now too! Seriously, stop the whining - how does anyone in your personal life put up with you? Learn to put your anger and frustrations to good use - call MINIUSA, write them, and learn to talk in a respectful manner. Otherwise, MINI, BMW, the MINI service dept, Enterprise and even the folks here at minicooperonline won't give a hoot about you or your problem!

Gee, then I'll just forget about the time the 3rd gear shift linkage failed in my 2001 HONDA Civic SI. And I'll just forget about how I was treated and how they blamed me. And I'll just forget about the fact that there were 1300 miles on the car. And I'll just forget the 3 weeks it took to get fixed.

And exactly when did it "blow"? You indicated that it was making a noise so you drove it in to have investigated. My Civic was stuck in 3rd gear. Ever tried to drive in only 3rd gear with VTEC?

I used to be on a Neon site. I posted many of my problems that I had with the brand new car and I complained and I moaned. It helped me get in contact with others who had the same problem Dodge told me no-one else had EVER reported. WOW! The power of the internet. Here on MCO, I've had a lot of help making final decisions on paint color and on options. I've also gleaned much info from reading thru various topics. Thank you all for that!

So NYI is venting a lot of frustration. I know the feeling all too well. I was being rail-roaded by Dodge and no matter who I talked to, no-one seemed to care (other than the Van driver to took me to work after dropping my Neon off for service...but, alas, he was just the Van driver.) So while many of you don't seem to understand there can be conflict in paradise, this thread may be your wake-up call. If you don't like the "whining" of NYI, then read another thread. Don't sit there and complain about his whining!

Your transmission problem is a huge bummer. I'd be upset too, but more in a disappointed vs. I hate the world kind of way. I'm happy the dealer took the time to properly diagnosis the problem and replace the transmission, instead of just saying some little part needed replaced or adjusted, and you could have been taking the car back several times before the ultimate problem was diagnosed.

My father gave me a new meaning for "problem" a few years ago. He was diagnosed with melanoma and given only a few months to live (miraculously he is still alive). He said most people have inconveniences. What he has is a problem. It put a lot of things in perspective for me.

You have an inconvenience my friend.

I didn't buy a MINI because I thought it was "cute". I got it because I thought it was cool and handled great. And mine does. That's my 2¢.

(Well put, SCoopFL)

I bought a MINI because it is a QUALITY vehicle with superb engineering built into the design.

Grow up man!

I am baffled at the X and Y generations when it comes to dealings about most everything in life......THE BLAME GAME! Everyone is bad, against me and therefore I am the victim!

Be glad you are driving a Saturn! I have been given Chevy Metros in the past as rentals and those really sucked a$$....but I still appreciated the fact that I had a set of wheels to move around and for which I was not spending a single dime.

Calm down, you seem to be acting like a spoiled brat!.
