R50/53 VIN # Differences

VIN # Differences

Does any know how to "decode" a Mini VIN #, as far as what each letter means? Specifically, Does the VIN # distinguish between a MC and a MCS?

Ok, well has any one noticed that our cars when you use any VIN decoder out there say that their coutry of origin is Germany....

I found this site to help.. But still can't figure it out.

Not surprising since that's where the Manufacturer (BMW) is located

Yes, but cars that are made here in Canada, don't have US origins... and those manufacturers are US or abroad based...

If you read your sticker when you picked up your MINI, the sticker reads something like 'Assembled in Germany'

I was about to go nuts, theyre assembled in germany, with engines done in Brazil (well before atleast), and the body parts made in France if im not mistaken

I'm guessing the Oxford, England assembly plant would disagree.
