R53 Engine lifting brackets?
I may be pulling the engine/trans and the Bentley manual calls for two lifting brackets but can’t find them anywhere. Any ideas?

Never used them, always connected a chain to one of the bolt holes from the top motor mount bracket (rear of engine) and one of the engine to transmission mating bolts. (Forward of the thermostat housing)

Oh ok well I need to change my rear main seal and think this would be easier than dropping the subframe.

probably easier to just drop the transmission ....then the seal is right behind the flywheel

NO, just pull the subframe and trans. It can be done so much easier than pulling both the engine and trans.

Have you done it that way before? I don’t have the bar that goes across the shock towers to hold the engine up.

You need to read through the numerous DIYs on how to do this. And trust me, Way Motor Works has done this more often than most anyone on this forum.

Just use a floor jack with a block of wood under the oil pan...you don't really need an engine bar

Google '2002-2006 Mini Cooper S clutch replacement ModMini YouTube' and you will find a two-part video tutorial.

Yes I've done hundreds of clutches. I just support the engine from underneath with a pole jack, nothing on top.

A friend of mine ran a 2x6 across the strut towers with a chain and lifting bracket on the engine when he pulled a trans. It was kind of sketch, but it worked.
