Using coolant

Need a little help. I thought I was getting coolant into the oil but after doing a drain and flush it would seem that was just build up over time for short drives.

The oil on the first drain had very little and only see one or maybe two drops were of liquid in the large plastic bin that I am using as the oil bin to catch the oil

The filter was just dark and seen no sludge or anything that would not look like any other oil after 5 to 6k miles on it.

I changed the thermostat but the original was in great sharp, only a very slight discoloration from antifreeze going through it and the bypass pin was loose and moves just like the new one. The rubber seal was still in great shape with a little bit of darkness but could not feel any difference from the new one. I did replace it since I have it and was planning too.

I took an old paint brush and cleaned the top of the area for the valve cover to remove some of the sludge that was there to help with the clean up

I ran the car and tested the thermo temp and got up and stayed at 90 degrees on the menu from the onboard...

I just finished a full flush on the new oil change and then changed filter.

I did burp the radiator so I know that I let out some of the liquid and I have refilled to the top of the baffles..

I am not seeing any thing under the car other than what came out from the burping.

Ideas or suggestions. I am about to go on a short drive to give it an once over after driving and not just idling.

Any suggestions that anyone has, is more than welcome, just wondering if i am not seeing something...

If you're not seeing any mixing of oil and coolant, there are two places you check next.

Check the coolant reservoir tank for any cracks or seam separating, they have been know to do this at times, and quite often it's only noticeable when warm and under pressure. Ends up being more of a vapor loss than visual leak, but it still reflects on coolant levels.

Next would be a leak down test and visual on the spark plugs to see if the head gasket may have developed a leak, and you're burning or losing the coolant through the exhaust.

I fixed the crack in the expansion tank and found that the oil cooler had a little muddy sand bar inside. I replaced the cooler but I didnt get a good seal it would seem and flooded the garage with oil.. Thanks!
