2004 R50 P1611 and P1613

Hello,

This is my first time posting on these forum.
I just need help fixing my 2004 Mini Cooper R50.

So I pulled out a P1611 and P1613 out of my Mini.
What happens is that during extremely hot weather, like above 100 degrees, my Mini will start misfiring during idle and at lower speeds.
The battery, spark plugs, compressor, alternator have been recently changed.
I even tried clearing all adaptations with INPA the other day.

I would appreciate some help please.

Could it be that the connectors are dirty? I saw somewhere that I should check the large connector connected to the transmission but I don't know where it is and how to access it.
I also saw in another thread that the circuit board under the center console may be worth checking as well.

thank you
Andrew

These are ASC/DSC and Gearbox Interface Unit (GIU) communication errors. Something on the CAN bus is wigging out - very often this is the CVT circuit board or steering angle sensor. Do you have a CVT?

Ok I think I can find the GIU (under the steering wheel panel) and the steering angle sensor and see if there are connectors dirty or not connect well.

I was looking at the link below and thought that thismay apply to me as well.

In the link it said that this board is below the center console but do you know what this board is?

I don't know much about the R50s, but I believe it's under or near the steering column.

You can try putting a DMM on the CAN bus and measure the resistance with the car off. You should see 60 ohm between the two data lines and several megaohm to GND on each. This will give you a quick check on the transceivers.
