>>Well, I checked the owners lounge, and I'm still awaiting production. AHHHHHH!!!! how long must I await for my >>>MINI. (yes that WAS a bad pun.)

From what the "February" people were saying, initial statuses seemed to change 14-21 days before the START of production. So if your production date is 02/07, production would START 02/03. Thus I would expect to see status change this Monday (01/20) since it didn't happen on 01/13.

Additionally, the 1-800-ASKMINI number was rumored to have a more accurate status than the web site and some people were calling it on at least a weekly basis. The statuses they report are:

37 Order is at BMW NA (On Order)
87 Production Week Assigned
97 Order Sent at Factory
111 Order Accepted at Factory
112 Order Scheduled for Production
150 Production Started (Scheduled for Production)
151 Body Shop Started
152 Paint Shop Started
153 Assembly Started
155 Production Completed
160 Released to Distribution
182 Released to Carrier (Awaiting Transportation)
193 Arrived at Port of Exit (Received at Terminal)
194 Selected for Shipment (Loaded on Vessel)
195 Shipped from Port of Exit (En Route)
196 Shipment Arrival (Discharged)

Finally, a lot of the "Februarys" were getting through production a week or so EARLY so maybe that is a bit of good foreshadowing for us!

I have not called the 800 number yet but probably will Monday if there is no change.

Here's an update on my info (Thanks wjklos for putting this together!)

~Scooper~; MCS; B/B; CT-US; On Order (and happy about it!)

I thought the wait from ordering at the dealership was bad...one you've got a production number, it gets worse!

The upside (especially the further north you go), is that us "Can't wait for March'ers" won't have to deal with as much snow, ice, sand and salt. At least, that's what I tell myself...

My MCS is BRG/white with all 3 packages and Silver slite wheels. I have the HK interior is Patina Alloy with Black space cloth and Panther black panels. While I really like Indi Blue... mine is definitely British Racing Green. The only color I could choose for my first British Car. I actually like the Electric Blue because it is such a unique color, but mine is BRG!

I will call ask mini tommorrow when I am not so busy!

Did I mention that I can't wait. I agree that the weather will be much more suitable in March than today since we have about 4" of white on the ground and it is still snowing. My MINI will not intentionally ever be out in the snow! I have a nice garage that is heated waiting for the MINI. I has 2 personal watercraft in there now, but they will be going to the lake by April!

xpcdoojk-

111 = Order Accepted at Factory
112 = Order Scheduled for Production

I imagine mine will stay at 112 until Feb 03 when it will actually go into production. I may call a week ahead of time to see if maybe it gets in earlier. I imagine your is in the same status as well given that we're both 2/07.

The updated and corrected list...

Thanks,
Bill

>>Bill what are you getting on you MC... my dealer MINI of St Louis has 5 MC available on their website today. I think that there is MC inventory at a lot of dealers. Don't get me wrong, I want it just the way I want it, but you might be able to get it now! Joy Joy!!!
>>

jc, thanks for the input! The lease on my Passat V6 is up at the end of February so I didn't have a "need it now" situation. I was told 6-9 months on an MCS so I didn't even bother to test drive one for fear I would want it too bad.

My ordered MC is Pepper White, Black Top, Black Leather, all 3 packages, Xenon head lights, Rear anti-collision sensor (more for conversational value than necessity). I still need to decide on my dealer added options (ie. stripes, rally lights, bike rack, etc.)

I had a good time on my two test drives so I imagine I'll be happy. BUT, I reserve the right to order an MCS in April and trade in my MC when it comes in!

Bill

I test drove both, and they are remarkably similar until you really get going. The S simply flies at high revs. The ride is a little better in the MC, but I just loved the 6 speed tranny in the S. I drove it the first time, I only was interested from the nostalgia. I didn't need a car and all of that. I made the mistake you avoided. I drove the S first... I knew I had to have the most hp available if I did buy it. So after 45 minutes after my wife and I had rodded it around St. Louis the lust began in the last 5 minutes of the test drive. I was going from a city street to one of the inner belts in St. Louis. It had a very short on ramp. I started down the on ramp at 20mph. I flashed through the gears and hit the road at 90mph... I am talking a very short onramp. I think I was now in 4th gear. I flashed in front of a car zoomed around the car in front. It was pure pleasure. I don't drive like that anymore. I am 44. I haven't had the car passion for 20 years. I suddenly had the car passion. I like everything about the car and concept. Fast, tiny, handles like a go kart, looks cool. The joy of a boxter or Corvette for less than 1/2 the price. It is nearly the perfect toy! I fell deeply into lust that October day. I had to work on my wife for 2 months to get her to the joy. I just wore her down. She doesn't have the passion, but she knows more about the MINI than anyone I know that is not on this forum. She is a very practical person, but she too is very excited. She just hides it from me. She can't let me say I told you so! Anyway, after driving the S, the MC was nice but not the same! So, Bill, if you go to any meets or to your dealer and someone says would you like to drive it. Just say no! Trust me on this. The only compelling reason for me to buy the MC would be if you were going to drive it to work everyday or a lot of city driving. Then the CVT would be nice, because you don't always want to drive, somedays you just want to get to work, and get home! I will not be driving the MINI on those days. I am not getting rid of a single car, just adding to the joy in my family!

wjklos,

It appears as you have taken the baton and have become the "Keeper of the List for the Fellowship of CWFMC". Great! Can't offer any helpful hints other than once 3/1 arrives, the changes keep flying in and daily updates become a challenge (and expected). Good Luck and Great Motorin'.

rygold and I are most proud of your acceptance for this most worthy and self-rewarding challenge.

Hi Guys

I need to make the final decision regarding the 17" runflats. Either Performance or All season. I am not particularly concerned with the economics of the Runflats. I am interested in how the tires will perform in only 2 environments. Dry and Wet. I will not be driving my MC S in snow. It will be in a warm garage staying clean and safe when it snows here in Missouri. That is what SUVs are for!

According to the dealer, I will get either Dunlop or Pirelli for the performance and either Dunlop or Goodyear for the all season.

So will the performance tires be comparable to the all season in the wet. I know that they will be better in the dry.

Anyway, what do you Marchers and regular members think?

I contacted Tony at MINI of St Louis, about the performance runflats vs the all season. He checked and I am now status 112... and that means 50/50 that I can change the tires. So, I had to say go for the performance... now I don't know for a while what I will get!

It is always something!

I still would love to hear opinions about the performance vs all season 17" runflats.

I can't believe we only have 11 people expecting their delivery in the month of March! Everytime I've been to my local dealer they're packed!

Not alot of our 11 posting either! :???:

Waiting for the drop in the bucket status changes is like watching water boil.

Tink, tink, tink, [days later], status change, tink, tink, [10 days later], nothing, tink.

Dang?

Well I checked with the dealer on 11 January and found out the My mini was on the Takamine destin for the distribution center. Checked online at miniusa taday 18 January and discovered its at the distribution center. I guess about two weeks at the distribution center, two weeks waiting for a ship another two weeks to cross the pond to Hawaii and about a week for the local shipping / dealer to release it. Looks like maybee first or second week in march. All this waiting is killing me.

Bill thanks for taking the bull by the horns and tracking the marchers out here.

HI PC

I will be on vacation in Hawaii Saturday Friday 14th in march at Hilo, 15 and 16 on Maui, and 17 and 18 in Honolulu. We are finishing up a cruise from Tahiti. I will keep my eye peeled for an IB/B Cooper! Which island are you on, Oahu? Mine hopefully will be waiting for me in St. Louis when we get off the plane if all goes as I think it will!!!!!!

Paul,

I guess that puts you as a 196 (Shipment Arrival, Discharged)? I wonder if MiniUSA has additional statuses for the next leg of your journey....interesting. I sincerely hope your estimates are worst case scenario! I would think you could be behind the wheel by the end of February! (I'm hoping if wish enough good karma on other people, my MC will magically get moved up on the list :smile

Next time you call ASKMINI, see if they have a ship name for you for the Hawaii bound leg. Maybe we can track it online.

Thanks,
Bill

All,

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Did anyone's status change over the weekend?! Let me know and I'll update the list. Additionally, any of you Marchers (receiving your present in March 2003) that don't see your user name on the list, let me know and I'll add you!

I KNOW THERE'S MORE THAN 11 OF US THAT WILL BE HAPPY IN MARCH!!!

Thanks,
Bill

I called ASK-MINI @ 10:30a EST and they told me the statuses were being updated and to call later in the day. Hopefully some movement will come out of that. Here is the most updated list.

"pc" is farthest along, but unfortunately is also farthest away. The rest of us, well, hopefully two weeks from today the 2/7s will start rolling down the line (or earlier would be nice too!)
