My 14 year old son totally surprised me for Xmas by converting our green/white LEGO MINI Cooper over to Purple/Black to match our R53. He single handedly sourced all of the alternate pieces online and even added lighting. Wow!! I'm so proud of him.

Wow what a kid! I just bought the kit, but obviously the wrong color.
Would your son be willing to share the parts list for those of us wanting to do the same?
My daughter got me this t-shirt. For some reason the picture will not load. The t-shirt reads "All I care about is my MINI Cooper and like maybe 3 people".

That's such a funny coincidence, my wife got me the same exact shirt for Xmas this year!

My son said that he used the part list at the end of the instruction booklet to find all the part #'s for the green and white pieces. Then he went on Bricklink.com and ordered each piece by part # and specified Purple by creating a "wishlist" and then auto searching all the vendors to add everything to the cart in one shot. If you want to change the interior color like he did, then you'll need to order those part #'s too.
The light kit here https://tinyurl.com/ybhpfjax is similar to what he used (there are a lot of them but this one includes the battery box). It required some modification to the kit to get everything to fit but really makes it POP.
