I noticed a difference in the door card arm rest pads

I have a pair of MINI's......a 2004 R53 (mfg 10-7-2003).......and a 2006 R52 JCW (mfg 9-13-2006)

I noticed that the door arm rest pads are different lengths.....is this normal, or did someone switch door pads or door cards? Can I put the longer style on the older car without too much trouble?

First pic is 2004 R53 car, second pic is 2006 R52 car

The longer pads are normal for the facelift MINI’s. I don’t think you can switch pads as the way they attach is different, but you should be able to switch the entire door panels. Since you have both I would try it before buying a FL set.

Hey, when you're removing the door panels to attempt the swap, can you look and see if the lower speaker grills are removable, or if the whole door panel needs to be purchased? My car had the speaker grills ripped out of the door, and it looks terrible... I'd like to replace them, but don't want to buy entire panels if I don't need to.

The grills are not removal. You might be able to find some and reattach them somehow otherwise you have to replace the entire panel.

You can buy speaker grills separately. The part numbers are here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=RE33-USA-01-2006-R53-Mini-Cooper_S&diagId=51_5998. Purchase from a dealer or online parts vendor (Google the part numbers you want).
