R50/53 $1,000 Service?
Hey All,
When I bought my Mini, the finance guy indicated a $1,000 service interval, that is due after the three years of full-maintenance. Can any of you confirm this to be accurate? He was trying to sell a service agreement at the time...
Thanks, Jim

I would be pretty shocked if the 40/50k/60k servicing (which ever of those winds up being the big servicing) is more than about $500.
I would also be surprized if dealers have even determined the actual pricing of those servicings since every MINI in the country is still under the original warrenty.

Well, they did not sell me the extended warranty...but the story was that all 4 brake rotors have to be replaced, and yada..yada..yada...... I hear a lot of good things about Roadshow Mini in Memphis. I wondering what their 3 1/2 year service cost...

BMW also sells an extended service plan for one extra year (from 3 to 4 years). It would be interesting if the $1000 deal pays for wear items like brakes. I just replaced the brakes and rotors for all four corners of my wife's 2000 323i, and that was $1000!!!! Then, just 2 months later, I did my first out of maintenance agreement service at 27k miles, and the dealer chargesd $494 for an oil and filter change and the Inspection 1 check list. At the same time, the dealer says they recommend a coolant flush and brake fluid flush, for another $300! BMW doesn't recommend the coolant flush for 4 years, and the should have flushed the brakes when they did the break work. Anyway, I am not a happy camper and a warning to all MINI drivers, really read and understand what the maintenance agreement covers. Without having direct experience yet with my local MINI dealer, I hope my BMW experience is an isolated incident. BMW did call me at home last night to discuss, so I am hopeful that this will be resolved equitably, but I don't have my hopes up.

All other points aside, there was a time that I hoped that the brakes would be included in the deal, but now.... with all that dust? FORGET IT! I'll get my own, thank you very much!
