Any ideas on a non leather steering wheel?

I have a friend who would love to get a mini, but is vegetarian, and wont go for the leather steering wheel, is there any aftermarket options that anyone has heard of that could fix this problem?! Any help greatly appreciated!

thanks

They offer a nice wood one in Europe, unless she is against killing trees as well.......

Tell your friend not to eat the steering wheel and to get a grip... you can carry things way to far.

sheesh, i knew i would get all of this, he is just not into killing animals, i dont see what that has to do with gas. I respect him for having some integrity and doing what he says, no animal products, not my thing but, different strokes aye?

so anyone know where he could import one of these wheels?

One of the great mysteries in life is why there is not a Mini daler in England that recognizes the potential profit in selling European-only Mini parts to U.S. customers. A little web site, a little credit card machine, all it takes to be in business. I've purchased some things from private sellers in England on Ebay, and the Royal Mail is pretty fast and not too expensive. The last package had a customs declaration with the description "Car Bitz" and it was shipped just fine!

The base wheel in the '02-'04 Cooper is vinyl. I'm not sure about the '05's though. All Cooper S's have a leather wheel, I believe.

strike that - I think it's only '02 and '03 Cooper has the plastic steering wheel. All '05's have leather wheel.

No disrespect intended. Just found it strange that a vegetarian would consider getting a sports car.

My apologies.

no worries scottinbend, Ill pass the ebay idea to him, or maybe he can grab a used 02 or o3, thanks guys for the suggestions!! True about the irony, but i guess if we followed anything all the way to its beginnings that it all comes and goes from the same place so whatcha gonna do, oh well, I hope he can figure something out it would rock to have a good friend to motor with!!

If you got a relatively new MINI and the steering wheel wasn't vinyl you could replace it with another stock cooper steering wheel that did have vinyl.

Or you could get the part number for the UK wooden sports steering wheel which is listed at 238 english pounds ($442)

Or you could loose the airbag and consider an aftermarket wooden steering wheel like this Momo Figher

350mm 13.8" $329 each (shucks- part of it is leather!) Oh well.

I just remembered that the MINI (esp the MCS) is full of leather stuff-
Shift boot-leather
Hand brake cover-leather
Door pull pads- leather? Maybe it's fake- lets hope so.

Isn't gasoline- decomposed dino juices? Does that count as animals?
Heck, synthetic rubber in tires are byproducts of petroleum. Oh oh.
Back to the flintstone mobile made of wood and stone.
