Touch-Up Paint Questions

I've decided to finally touch up the half dozen tiny little nicks and scratches I've accumulated over the last two years. I'm looking at the Moss MINI site and I see OEM Indi Blue, but don't see a dedicated touch-up kit for the white roof. Will Pepper White do the trick? Also, has anyone else done this? Any tips or words of caution before I begin?

Get a professional to fill in those paint chips if you care about the looks of your car. Langka is an OK product that minimizes the ugly paint "blob" that usually happens after applying touch up paint, but it is still noticeable and sometimes it is frustrating in its use.

There is a company called Aerocolours that will come to your home or office and fix those chips professionally for a very reasonably amount of $$$ all done while you wait. Highly recommended. Here is the link to locate the dealer closest to you:

http://www.aerocolours.com/services.html

If you insist in doing the job yourself, then your best bet is the genuine MINI OEM paintsticks (Set of paint and lacquer for around $16 at your dealer's parts counter) and for the roof use the Autosharp pen because they sell an exact match for the MINI's white or black colored roof. While their paint color match is excellent, I find their pen's tips to be of questionnable durability. They retail for around $15-$20 a piece.

Get a quote from a pro first and then look into doing the job yourself, but it may not look all that pretty.

Consider installing either a clear or vinyl bra in your MINI after the repairs are done.

I have used the OEM paint touch-up kit from MINI.Go easy, little goes a long way. use a sharpened toothpick, not the brush that comes with the kit.
Go light on the paint, real light. Many layers are better.Drys fast in the shade.
This is more for rust protection that show car

lot15's right. Use many layers (ive gone up to 15 layers once) and definitely use a tooth pick. I like to mash the tip a little bit on something to make the
tip flat. This way, it retains more paint.

I first put touchup paint into an empty yogurt cup...then use a toothpick
from there. After the layer is filled enough that it is barely lower than
the rest of the paint, i use clearcoat. Let dry 2-3 days...then take a 2000
grit sanding block and some detailer spray to make it the same height as
the rest of the paint.

Finish off with a very fine compound (i use ScratchX) to polish.

Has anybody used the Langka system to remove the blobs from touch up paint?

I used Langka on another car (not a MINI). I was disappointed. I was working out some scratches in the car's door. You buff too softly with Langka and nothing happens; too hard and the paint comes out of the scratch groove. I probably overdid the paint application a bit in the expectation that I'd be able to rub out the excess with Langka, but it's still VERY noticeable and scar-like in the right light. I wouldn't buy the stuff again.
