Yikes... I got to buoy/ship observations on the Accuweather site... but I'm stumped from there. Decode? Decode what?? I simply don't have a clue. Could you possibly give a little more detail to us shipping novices?
Cheers,

>>Wait, okay... now I see the locations map-- how do I know which number is my ship??

OK, Here is Everything You Need to find your ship...
1. Go to the MiniUSA Owners Loung and get the VIN of your vehicle:
MiniUSA Owner's Lounge
2. Go to the Tracking Page and click 'Auto' and enter the last 7 digits of your VIN. If you are booked on a ship you will see the booking and also your ship name. Record the ship name.
Cargo Tracking
3. Go to the US Coast Guard's Site and enter the Vessel Name and click search to search for the call sign. Record the Call Sign. For Example, the call sign for the Don Juan is SGIX. There may be several ships with the same name, but only one in service as a "Freight Ship"
U.S. Coast Guard Current Vessel Search
4. Go to the accuweather.com web site and enter the Ship's call sign under 'Buoy/Ship Observations' and click 'Decoded' This will get you the LAT and LON coordinates.
Accuweather.com Buoy/Ship Observations
That should do it!!! I hope this helps. I am still looking for something I can enter the Lat and Lon to get a position on a map. Then life would be great!!! If anyone finds one, please let the rest of us know!!!!!

Oh, you're a star!
The Coast Guard info was the "missing link" for me... found the Trinidad's call sign w/no problem. Currently there isn't info available for it, but that's another issue entirely!
Cheers,
Leslie

>>Anyone find a site to show LAT and LON on a map yet??? That would be too cool.
OK, I found a site that will help you find your boat in the ocean...
First use the steps listed above to get the LAT & LON. Then use these numbers and go to this site:
http://mapserver.maptech.com/homepag...latlontype=DMS
If you look at the URL closely, you see ?lat=50&lon=-9.38
If you substitute the coordinates for your ship, a map will appear. You can hover over the map to see exactly where you ship last was recorded.
Note:
For Latitude, positive is North and Negative is south.
For Longitude, positive is West and Negative is East.
The Accuweather site is only updated every three hours.
Have fun with it!!!!!

wow, the ( -) will really mess you up if you don't put it in the right place. the first time I did it, the Trianon showed as being right smack dab in the middle of Egypt!
>>Yikes, Oxford to L.A. via the Suez Canal...
to quote rocketboy and others....EGADS! that would definitely add a whole pile of time to the delivery. Hello "Can't wait for September '03" club...um, no, I'll just mind my math signs instead!

I have a problem...I have my VIN and my car has been released to WW, but they show no information available for my #. How long does the car have to be in their hands for it to show up that they are doing something with it?
well good morning kids...just looked at the don juan on the naitical tracking ..looks to be a good ways out of the English Channel....50.6n latitude ..17.2w longitude...

After attempting to track the Figaro using all these great links being provided, my wife sarcastically asked if I was planning on making a ship to shore (actually vice versa) call to them asking them to walk down to the hold and check on Nigel....
Well actually.....

I gave that some thought
. but then better judgement sunk in (that and the crazy looks everyone gave me) and I figure that I'd better leave those boys to sailing the ship instead of running down below to check on a car. My luck they would send the helmsman down to check it out, and then the ship would hit a sand bar or an iceburg or something, and Roxy would end up as part of a really fancy reef. That right there would be all bad

I had that problem night before last. I figured it was going to get too far, so I waited until morning. Last I checked, the Trianon was almost within site of the east coast. way cool!

...looking for the Don Juan...it just left yesterday...should be too far yet...
