R50/53 Waiting Dec 2004/Jan 2005 for Mini Delivery...
Picked Her up
I just picked up my bright Orange Convertible last Saturday. She didn't stay bright for very long with all the salt they throw on the roads here in Chicago. I have put almost 800 miles on her in a week. She is more fun to drive then I ever imagined.
I got the following list of Free Stuff from my dealer:
-4 Free Carpet Floor mats (I asked for rubber and they didn’t have them. I am going to have both now)
-Free Aux input (they were supposed to install it originally, but never did, they are installing a free one this week)
-Free Stuffed Mini Dog (For my Wait)
-Free "Let's Motor" license place holder (For my wait)
-Free air nozzle caps (For my wait)
How did everyone else make out at their dealer?

Ciao,
Ciao,
I guess they hadda sleep off all that xmas eggnog or something... I was noticing that the ship's track/location did seem too far from SC to get there by today. Before reading your post I chalked up the seemingly different distances travelled each day, to possibly different reporting times. That's no way to run a navy
.Throw some more coal on that fire, ensign
, I need full power NOW, Mr. Scott, or we'll all be Klingon fodder! The way-ay-ting is the hardest part, (I HOPE Tom Petty made it onto the Motoring Tunes thread

. Hmmm @ valve stem caps (thoughtful chin-rubbin' smiley). I think, if it were a freebie, the MINI or Union Jack set would be a nice tasteful mod.
Probably be the first things to get pilfered though, on the mean streets
.Topic-Drift Warning: During a recent "extended loiter" at my dealer's, I eyeballed some "body color shift *****" and wondered how they'd work, in my body color interior... Any thoughts? I bet on delivery day I could at least jam one on and have a look/see, if it's "too much red" ...

Wahoo! According to
http://www.port-of-charleston.com/vessel_schedule.asp
the Emden docked at the Union Pier Terminal berth 2 at 7 AM Eastern and began unloading at 8. My car has finally made it to the States. Now it disappears into the black hole known as the VDC...

I feel like I've been able to track it really well to this point with the Mini, the ship lines and the dock's websites. Now I feel lost with no real way to know how close it really is!! What do you all think, a couple of weeks?
WTF ASK-MNI status changed and now it says "At the port awaiting shipping vessel; No shipping information is known at this time", yestaerday it said "In transit". I confirmed from kline that my MINI arrived at charleston on 12/29/04 aboard EMDEN. The OL status still says "En Route". Now i am totally consfused, as to where my MINI is

Finally
I *finally* took delivery of my early December build S. I must be the last December build to do so. My problem was that my dealer is in Ohio and I live in Seattle. The hold up was due to the shipper being busy with Barrett-Jackson. Here's my timeline:
Ordered - 11/18/04
Build complete - 12/8/04
Loaded on K-Line vessel - 12/17/04
Arrival Port of Charleston, SC - 12/29/04
Arrival at dealer, Ohio - 1/3/05
Loaded on transporter - 1/29/05
Delivery to Seattle - 2/4/05
Motoring smiles - ongoing...
