She took me to work three hours before her shift and just picked me up. We ate.

You're the man, but we realized we put cover bolts where the tensioner is supposed to go. I predict one hour and we will be running the mini.

i kinda wanna pull it off to check the chain again.... we will likely do that.

Okay. We are fairly certain that everything is in it's place. Should I crank the engine by hand before I start it? Waiting on you to ignite the engine. Also, sent you a message about your tool. You've been great to me, and to anyone that needs me -- I will have this email address forever and if you message me or respond to this thread I will reply to you likely within 24/hours, but hopefully the info in this thread will be enough. Unfortunatly because of my time constraints I often forgot to take pictures, but what shrevemini has provided guided me well enough and should do the same for you.

Okay, the engine is running, and it seems the coil pack is done. The 1 and 3 studs are growing rust and I’ve cleaned them twice now. I’m still hearing a clicking in my engine and I’m wondering if this is where that’s been coming from.

I changed the spark plug wires six months ago. Am I gonna need to change them again?

Stopped running after getting it to work then taking it to my moms. I think the P2300 code is saying my entire coil pack is dead, so I have a new coil pack hopefully arriving Sunday, but it might not come until Monday :/ same with the crank pully bolt.

I've suspected the coil pack was on its way out, but now with kore research I think all the clicking and clacking I’ve been hearing was misfires due to the pack..... whatever the case here’s how last night went.

Engine back together, and I turn the key “click!” ..... then nothing when I tried to turn it again. I plugged in my OBD reader which showed a P2300 code. I took the coil pack off and disconnected the plugs to find the stud for 1 covered in a rust colored dust and the stud for plug 3 coated in hard black metallike corrosion. The other two didn’t look great, but the boot on the pack side of the spark plug cable had the rust colored dust on the inside. The cables are 6 months old.

I cleaned off the studs on the coil pack and the car started right up. I was able to drive it to work however on start up before warming up there’s a clicking sound coming from the 1 cylinder. I drove from work after the car was in the sun in 33 degree weather for 12 hours no problem, but I think the killer was at my moms where the car sat out in sub freezing temps in the dark for two hours. Same thing happened as before: a loud click then nothing, but wiping the studs didn’t solve the issue this time.

I will take your advice. I bought NGKs last night, but they will come in Wednesday.

All things considered this sounds to me like the coil pack is the issue. Do you concur?

Thank you. The gentleman that has been helping me is a scholar. I’ll post on here or a new thread the steps I took and pitfalls I had.

Aw dang I just realized why I’m so bummed!

Our three pick n pulls and couple of scrap yards come up on maybe 12 -15 mini coopers a year and a new one just hit the yard. I need a new bumper, hood, plastic fasteners, right side orange light, and a head liner! XD **** I could probably get a coil pack for cheap till the new one comes in too.

Fed ex didn’t deliver because the package was “not scheduled for delivery.” -_- I called and told them I don’t know of anyone being upset at an early delivery. I’ll get it tomorrow because that’s when it’s scheduled even though it’s been in town since Friday.

Plus side I got the crank pully bolt and spark plugs today.

Did you replace the header, or regule the fabric?

I removed the liner from car. Pulled off old material. Cleaned surface. Later new liner on top. Then filed back one side. Used headliner glue.
