R50/53 Always things to learn about my R53
Always things to learn about my R53
It has been a long time since I posted last. I sent my R53 to Bmw to have frame work and suspension redone. Car handles so much better, I also found the source of my engine squeak, the serpentine belt, I bought an OEM belt and the sound is gone. I am hearing a loud squealing sound when accelerating hard, I am guessing my belt is slipping. Is there anything I can do to minimize or eliminate the slipping. I would think I could get a quicker acceleration without the slipping.
Thanks
Also does anyone know how to program a new key?

What kind of frame and suspension work, and are you sure you have a stock pulley on the supercharger? The BMW dealer probably put on a stock belt, but the JCW and aftermarket pullies need a smaller belt.
Also, the belt tensioners don't seem to last so maybe a new tensioner is needed. Most of the time the small shock/damper is worn out, but they don't seem to be available separately.

As in frame work it included included some really small things, not like a cracked or bent frame. I have replaced the tensioner multiple times as it isn't causing any trouble. It might be the pulley which I am planning on doing a reduction anyways.
ok, frame wasn't touched but components mounted onto the frame were fixed or replaced.
Nice white R91's wheels. Keys need to be done at the dealership, some indies have it.

Bet you have a reduction pulley...
So the OEM belt is too long...
Slipping at higher rpms... causing noise. Can also cause loss of HP, and can get tossed off, resulting in a tow and about $1000+ in parts. They did you no favor putting an OEM belt on.
Fix...shorter aftermarket belt.
And please note
The MINI is a UNIBODY...so NO FRAME. just saying.
