Slicktop Premium?

My wife has a cabrio and I'm thinking of getting a hardtop for me. How much of a premium, if any, do hardtops with sunroof delete sell for?

Thanks in advance!

A top like this:

no sunroof

What's a "slicktop"? A hardtop? I guess you don't mean this: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=slicktop

The original MSRP was $3500 premium for the convertible over the hardtop.

Ok, same price over the hardtop vs convertible other thann it was in a package for 1200.00, think it was like 800.00 on its own.

My question must be less clean than I hoped. I'm asking how much more does a sunroof delete hardtop sell for used (today) vs. sunroof optioned R53.

PS. I've got to admire that you know option prices off the top of your head!

That was my guess because I bought a MINI new back in 2004.

Its priced most of time a hair more with the panoramic roof. Most people wanted that option back in the day. The solid hardtops are harder to find and most dont have allot of options so they might be priced less, unless its an MC40 or a JCW GP2 which are rare and usually higher priced as they were factory solid tops.

I can't remember what I had for breakfast, nevermind option packages on cars from over a decade ago. The double sunroof is very cool, but I have an S2000 that I use whenever the weather is good. For my bad weather car I'd just assume lose the weight.

You won't be able to get any premium for a non-sunroof equipped R53.

I spent the last few months driving & looking at different 2002-2004 R53's, and basically, if it has a sunroof, average list price is about $5000. Less-equipped models seem to average closer to $4000.

I'd think a sunroof delete model would go for less than their base counterparts, custom stuff usually reduces the value...but I've never even heard of someone deleting a sunroof. Normal people perceive non-sunroof cars as inferior...most people aren't even able to tell when a wheel loses traction, much less how center of gravity affects the dynamics of their vehicle...

An R53 with sunroof is worth about $200 more on the market. You can verify on appraisal sites like kbb and edmunds.

Since you have a H2000 the sun roof has no value to you and a 80b reduction for the tin top is the way to go if you can find one---they are rare for the above reasons----I personally would prefer the tin top and loose the 80 lb.

Actually 54 lbs, and subtracting the weight of a tin roof (I'll estimate 15 lbs), the difference would be about 40 lbs, which is still substantial.

The sunroof is just so MINI though. Even if you don't open it, just having it there to let ambient light in is so nice. Transforms the driving experience, makes it an even happier car. I test drove an R53 with no sunroof and a slight tint before I bought mine and it sucked inside. Just felt lifeless.

I'm coming around to this. I've been driving my wife's convertible the last few days with the top up. With the roof so far forward it makes for dark interior. I'd like a lightweight car, low center of gravity but I'm not building a race car. I'm looking for a modded car and finding one with the right mods and no sunroof could be hard.

Hey sevin, I'm offended by your "lifeless statement" un-true, lol. My MC40 rocks, motor on!

a sunroof delete hardtop was worth 1000 $ more than a sunroof model to me, it took forever to find one too

it's very very hard to find them, that's why people like me are willing to pay more for one

I hate sunroofs, they rattle and all that weight in the worst place

Yes, they are hard to find, most people went with the pano roof when the car was new.

run into the same problem with bmw, every dealer ordered with the moonroof/sunroof things

if you want to do HPDE it's not the best choice all that weight up top, and it's glass no thanks!

I found a 2006 factory JCW with no sunroof, it even has the non automatic hvac! so much better than the "automatic" controls on my 2005

people might scoff at $1k premium for a sunroof delete but anyone who has tried to take weight out of a car knows $20 per pound is low.

IMO somebody heavy into autocrossing would be looking for a car without a sunroof. Would be lighter and stiffer. The key is finding that person. I am also thinking that 99% of the people looking for a used mini are going to look at price first and would expect a higher priced car to have a sunroof.
