It's almost trivial, but I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this...since about 3,500 miles on the car, my service countdown (you know, the one that appears right as you start the car) has been wrong...adding up to 10,100 miles instead of 10,000. I've since gone over 4,000miles and its reading 6,250 left... anyone else notice this? As far as I know, the MINI isn't THAT smart as to decide I don't need to go in for another 250 miles beyond the standard 10,000...

From what I understand, the computer takes into account the way
you drive when it calculates the miles to next service. The harder you
drive the car, the faster it counts down to next service. A lot of easy
highway cruising = more miles to next service.

The software in the car is a lot smarter than you give it credit for. It
also "learns" the way you drive and optimizes itself to your driving
style. Pretty cool, IMHO.

The service interval adjusts to your driving habits. After getting back from the Canada road trip in September, my MINI was at 10,800 miles, but the service interval still showed another 300 to go.

nothing is wrong. That's the way the system works.

The service interval takes your driving style into account. I'm at 650 miles and my MCS is already showing that my service is due at about 9800 miles. I've been driving pretty aggressively (while staying under 4500 rpm) and I only have a 3 mile commute.

Well,

I'v done 3000+ miles and I'm at about 10100 if you add up. I guess I drive more agressivly than most.

Well in my case I had two road trips totalling over 5000 miles of easy highway driving. With that my service interval would have been about 11,100 miles if I had done the change to the mile. As it was I did it at 10,800 and it showed 300 miles to go.

I believe your MINI will recommend servicing anywhere from 9,000 to 12,000 miles.
