Best Cam?

Hey guys,

I think I'm going to do a tune (probably WMW as the price is right for college and I can't get to a dyno) and cam for my R53 and I'm just trying to figure out what cam to get. I hear a lot about the RMW one. I don't need one that's specifically for street use because as I mentioned I can have the tune compensate for it. Of course I want one that will do good on the street because this is my daily driver, but I want the best bang for the buck.

Let me know what you all think!

Well, WMW offers a cam now. Being as you want to get them to do your tune it might be worth looking in to their cam as well.

a WMW tune would most likely be best with the WMW cam, since he is the one that knows the spec of them, Im also sure he could tune any other cam

I've heard good things about his street cam. I've also cams generally aren't great for the street because they rob some torque for high RPM power.

If you go with a "race" cam, a tune's not going to compensate for the low rpms power/torque that you will lose. It will help.....but there is a reason why they list the RPM range where the cams make power, and the race ones always make power in the upper rpms....because they are for a track car.

The R53's are doggy at low rpms anyways....not sure why anyone would want less power at low rpms, especially for a street car.

If you can't afford a tune right now, just wait until you can and install the cam at that point. There's no sense in rushing into this.

From my research and reading and according to waymotorworks the street performance cam is what you and I want . Can be run with no tune or any other mods though obv it would benefit much more with a tune and corresponding mods..
And I hear all this weak at low rpm..my car with it current mods IDC if I loose down low hp..imo it has more than enough , it will spin the tires into 3rd gear if I want it to..I think if launched rite these are beasts ,as long as you know your power band your fine.and I think these have a very liniar powerband That's why I wanna figure out how to install my launch controller ..
check youtube , there lots of good R53 cam videos on there and the guys will respond back to you.
