I noticed some rattle in my hatch, so I went to try to adjust the stoppers and it won't open. I used it yesterday, and even went to the carwash today. so I opened it to dry the inside.
Neither key will engage the hatch unlock. Even with the car running it won't open. I assume this is electrical and hopefully simple.
Check under the bottom of the rear seat cushion. The later first gen's have a manual release cable, but sometimes they were retrofitted by owners of earlier cars. What year is your car?
No, you should be able to pop the front clips up and squeeze your hand under. The cable is routed from the passenger side and the loop to pull it is in front of the seat belt latches, or you can just reach under the passenger side and pull the cable like an old school bus stop cable. You might need someone to pull on the hatch at the same time depending on the adjustment of your hatch and bump stops.
No. Just lift up on the front of the rear seat. You should see a cable with a small ring on the end. Pull it and the hatch should pop. If you do not have someone to help, push on the rear glass to help the boot pop open.
So, I opened the passenger door, and the hatch lock started going nuts, as if it was cycling through all the times I pressed the key button. It seems to be working fine now. Either way, I'm glad to know I can reach under the seat if it happens again.
