Cabin gets warm/cold with the Climate Control off?

So, I've experienced this for a while. I hardly ever drive with the Climate Control on.

However, some times there will be cold air blowing out of the vents like it is on. And I mean BLOWING too, not just a little breeze, but like I can feel it hitting my face and arms.

Other times, it will just get very hot inside the cabin, just like I have the heat on, but again, I do not have the climate control on at all.

When I do turn on the climate control, the AC/Heat works just fine. It's really weird and very annoying. Has anyone else had this issue or know what could be going on? Thanks!

I have a similar issue, though I'm starting to think it may not be a real problem. If you turn recirculate on with the blower off, does the problem persist?

I haven't tried that MYSELF, however I have noticed that sometimes the recirculate is on on its own. But, I've only noticed this in the afternoons driving home, and I drive with the windows down so I can't really tell if it makes a difference. I'll try this afternoon and in the morning and see.

Even with climate control off the baffles still reflect the temperature that it's set to most recently, and with fresh air blowing in from driving you'll feel it. Set the fan to zero and turn on recirculation and you won't feel it.

You can set the temp...then shut off the fan...the air STILL FLOWS THROUGH THE HEATER COIL....kinda like a vent...if you open the sunroof or crack the window, it is very obvious....so you can use this info to make things work the way you want...most cars work to some extent like this.

That's the weird thing...the Climate Control is set to 66 when it's on and its been HOT in the car in the mornings while driving when the climate control is off.

Well, when the air is cold it blows more than a little, like I migth as well have the fan on its blowing so hard. When it's hot I can't feel anything blowing, it just gets really hot inside.

Same thing here, pretty sure it's "normal".

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has this problem

What ever my climate control is set on before I turn it off (hot/cold).....it will still have a little hot/cold air coming out of the vents after I turn it off. Usually I'll make sure I turn the turn all the way down to LOW before I shut it off.....

Well, I tested it this morning. I got in the car, cranked it up, and pressed the recirculate button. Now my entire CC system came on, so I presses the A/C button (the snowflake), and turned that off. So, all that was lit up was the dial with the temp, the AUTO light and the Recirculate light. It was much cooler in the cabin this morning.

However, I'm still not understanding what's going on? I mean, if the entire CC system is off from the beginning and hasn't been on in hours, why does the car get extremely hot inside like its blowing heat, or cold sometimes like it's blowing A/C? It just seems stupid that, oh it blows anyway even if it's off.

Also, the times I've notice the recirculate being on without me touching it, JUST the recirculate button is lit-up. Is that something automatic? I'm really confused.

Think about it this way....you have a vent in the boot...
The cabin is always at a slight vacume....
The heater core is in a box, always on, with a couple of flappers on it, controling the amount of airflow that goes through it....
You drive...if you just shut the fan off, the flappers are KINDA frozen in the prior position....air still is getting sucked into the car, some passing through the heater even if the fan is off if the temp was set to anything but "lo" before shutoff....
So you hit the recirculation mode, the fresh air door is closed....no airflow....so no heat...
Using this info, yo can set the temp to hi....the crack the sunroof in the winter...and have the fan be off...and heat the cabin very nicely till the low 20's....Windows does similarly....
Most every car with auto climate is similar with the dampers, and doors....
Manual cars typically have a **** you turn that controls the FLOW of hot coolant to the heater coil (many cars anyway, except us cars that use vacuum and sliders)...that's why it is so hard to retrofit some items...more than just a display.

So for it to be off....set temp to lo....then turn the fan to off...the lights will be off on the AC,and the only light lit will be how the air is flowing to vents....
Turn heat to max, or AC to low, and SOMETIMES the recycle light will come on...depends on a few things, just like the recycle/recirculation light will not come on if the defroster is on, and the AC comes on...it's programed to do things...like wait a few minutes to set the fan to high if the temp is set to hi,to give the car a chance to warm up unless the defroster is on...then it blows at max....its just doing what most smart drivers do automatically......
