R56 Vent hose replacement
Vent hose replacement
Hey folks...
I've had a 2008 MCS for a few months and its having a few issues...
Had the clutch replaced (of course) a few weeks ago... now been having a bunch of issues since... engine light on due to loose hoses and broken hose clips etc .. the shop that did the clutch is now unresponsive as they feel that they haven't cause the issues - clearly they have.... but at this point I'm hoping I can resolve these issues myself..
One issue is the vent hose... the clip on the vent hose at back left of the valve cover has broken... I pulled the air filter housing off but the hose runs under the manifold beneath the cover... I found where the hose connects under the manifold but (surprise) there is a "Y" at the bottom of the existing hose and there isn't on the new part I bought... from everything I've looked at online... there is not supposed to be a Y there in a 2008 MCS, connecting to another hose... has anyone seen this before ???
Also... It looks like its near impossible to replace the hose without removing more than the air filter housing... can anyone help me understand how to get at it properly ?

Assuming this is a 2008 Hardtop (Gen2) and not a Convertible (Gen1) - you are correct. The vent tube is a single tube that attaches at the bottom of the intake manifold. If there is a 'Y' in this line, did the previous owner add an Oil Catch Can?
