R50/53 PW/PW 05 MCS Arrived
PW/PW 05 MCS Arrived
After nearly 6 months of wait my PW/PW 05 MCS finally arrived in an enclosed carrier in it's 2800 mile journey from Classic Mini in OH to OR.
I originally was in the 04 June build/July delivery group buy but soon I found out the first build date and spec of the 05. Julie was gracious enough to let me cancel my 04 spot though it was already scheduled for production. She has been wonderful to work with all along even though I must have flip flop on my options and accessories 10 times.
The Mini arrived here this past Saturday morning via Concours Transport Systems driven by Cornell. I met him in a nearby parking lot so the truck does not have to negotiate the narrow street to my house. Together with my PW/PW there are two other MCS bound for CA and AZ, a very nice classic Camero SS, and another classic car of Model T era which I don't recognize. Cornell was very nice and he carefully unloaded the Mini and patiently let me carefully inspect the car before signing the receipt.
The Mini is inpeccable condition though there is what appears some minor scratches on the roof likely didn't occur during transit. All my accessories are loaded in the backseat and the boot storage area.
I wash the car down and cleaned with cleaning wax what appears to be scratches and it became all but invisible except under just the right lighting condition. It appears they were from someone's metal watch band.
To date I put on about 250 miles so far. The baby is smooth and I really like the firm but supple ride. I elected the 16" V-spoke for it's light weight and I already have the Cooper's space saver spare so I can swap out the run flat with some decent tires soon. It is so hard not to do spirited driving even during the break in period.
Here are some pictures of my PW/PW.

Thanks. Jet black and pepper white are compliments of each other.
The power and handling of the MCS makes my 93 Miata feel like my father's Osmobile.

How did you pick the interior options?
Beautiful car. Thanks so much for sharing the photos. How did you decide on the interior options (seat color and dash--silver vs. anthracite vs. patina?) I am ordering a PW/Black MCS and have everything speced out except these last 2 items.
Zociac - Congrats.... very nice.... PW is soooo classy...... now I can't wait for mine... Julie just sent me pics yesterday of my MCS that has arrived.... now I have to wait a couple of more weeks to get it here in California.....
Keep those photos coming!

The seat color combo is easy. Mini decided for me as there is no choice for the cloth seat (I am not a fan of leather seat).
I was expecting just a black set but am very happy with the greater contrast with the silver patches. I looked at the dash colors at the local dealer very closely and felt the silver sets off the best contrast with the black dash like the PW body and roof against the black pillars. The anthracite is too dark to my liking while the patina has the appearance of many shoe prints from someone's sneakers. I do like the color of the patina but just not the shoe print appearance.Just a process of eliminations.

Are you the owner of one of the other 2 MCS? The reason for the delay and also route change is because one of Concours truck broke down and Fred has to make some logistic change by routing a truck to bail out the stranged truck because they were transporting classic vehicle for some vintage auto race which the delivery cannot be late. I lucked out as a result because original I was the last drop but I ended up getting the Mini first because of the route change.

I have an '03 with white tails; I also have red reflectors in the rear bumper to make them DOT approved (you can just see them in one of my sig pics). You might want to look into both before you get the attention of your local police.

04 Clear Tail Light on O5 MCS

Not clear if your question is directed at me though I suspect you are as I installed the 04 clear tail lights into the 05. They were not compatible without some work.

One thing, since all the bulbs are white, do you ever worry that the cars in back of you might interpret the white running and break lights as reverse lights?

I went with the 16" wheels/tires because they are lighter and performs better than the 17" optional wheels/tires.
