Coming back to the world of MINI

Hey everyone. I was once the proud owner of a 2005 MCS, but I sold it in 2009 and went back to 4x4s. More recently I've thought about selling my current daily driver and getting a Mini, partly because they're really cheap where I live and usually have low mileage and no rust issues etc.

I've read the buyers guide about issues (mine had barely 50,000km when I sold it, so I never got to see anything go wrong!) with used Minis and even before that I knew I wanted another 05-06 MCS for obvious reasons.

Anything else to look out for as far as "major" issues? I can handle repairs on most things myself (the usual suspension/brakes/consumables)

Also, who are the go-to aftermarket manufacturers for performance parts these days?

Welcome back, if you know the guide the 05+ of gen 1 have the more features for the model and have the better reliability.

I would check the P/S pump & Fan , MINI should have you covered on this for Canada.

Thanks!

Can anyone remind me why there are two different gauge styles (other than for Nav) in the R53? I'm looking at used cars and some have the tach/speedo on the steering wheel, and some don't. Why is that?

Justa heads up (see what I did there?)

If you are over 6' you may not like the chrono package so much. At highway speeds you may find that the speed indicator is obscured by the steering wheel. I know a number of drivers that don't like it because of that alone.
