Another power steering pump question

Its for a 2006 mini cooper s. i got one of those intermittent ps pump failure. sometimes it goes out for a few seconds, but then just a few days ago it was gone for a day then suddenly came back to life. I have decided to replace it anyways.

I found a replacement pump (Dorman 599-950). It says that it is applciable to 2006 mini cooper but also says that it replaces OE# 324267100 only.

Does anyone know what this means? What is the OE # for? Should I be concerned about this stipulation? I just want to make sure that this part is compatible to my car before ordering.

Thx...

Yes that pump will work for your car. It is one of the aftermarket options we stock, the pump wasn't any different from 02-06 or 08 if Cabrio.

The pumps have been superseded through the years, so it is a direct replacement for the older part number.

Oh I see. So 32426767100 is an older part number that has been superseded?

Thank you so much for the clarification.

32426767100 is the older part number, 32416778424 is a newer parts number, 32416778425 is the newest. See below for all the info and what to check. If you need a P/S pump its linked below. Also you are an 06' so you will be out of the recall tears for the P/S pump and Fan.

Check to see if its the pump, fan, or the wire itself first. Also do you have low P/S fluid ? If the lines leak and there is low or no fluid you will loose Power steering, might just be the lines. Check the reservoir and cap with level.

Also would be a great time to have a look at the P/S lines while you are there.

For certain years there is a recall from MINI on the pump and fan if it fails : https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...50k-miles.html

For the power steering pump , its electrical pump and see here :

So which wire you say should I check? Is it the power wire leading to the 100 amp fuse FL4?

Yea, its just a quick check to make sure the main plug did knot com undone on the top of the p/s pump. people sometimes break those clips unplugging the harness to do the LCAB or drop the sub-frame for other repairs, its just a quick check before you go into major repairs/
