Coopy is sick....I got a rental today.
When I got in my car this morning to go to work and turned the key...nothing. Well, besides the airbag light coming on and a beeping noise. I called roadside assistance and they towed me to the dealership (which is only about a mile from my house). This is really not what I wanted to wake up to.
Luckily they were able to put me in another MINI as a rental car. Last time they gave me a Saturn sedan and it was like driving a landbarge compared to what I'm used to. I am surprised at how nice the loaner is. Black leather interior, which I don't have, with heated seats...although the seats are not the sport version so it's a little like sitting on a park bench. It's a 2004 with less than 2K miles on it. It's on 15"s and the difference in handling and the roughness of the ride is VERY noticeable compared to my car (which is on 17"s). Bumps in the road that are normally a pain in the *** in my Coopy were alot more tolerable. It has rear fog lights, which weren't an option on Coopers in the US until recently, although mine are modified to light up when I brake. The doors lock automatically at 10MPH...which scared the **** out of me at first, and it has the upgraded steering wheel that can be found in the newer models as well. My drive to work this morning was extremely pleasant...plus it's kinda cool getting to drive a yellow car for a change....

MINI of Towson definitely gets HUGE bonus points for this. They are so nice and helpful in there. I'm waiting for the guy to call me and let me know what's wrong with her. I'm hoping it's just a battery issue...and not my alternator or something. And at least this happened while I was still under warranty.
Mine was sick too...but Schomp fixed it
Last Friday, I lost the shift linkage and it got stuck in 3rd. Limped home, then to the dealer on Saturday without a tee time. They took it in and asked for a few days. Lo and behold, on Monday AM at 10, Ian called and it was FIXED and ready to go. Impressive work and I am very pleased with Schomp in Denver....no questions asked and faster than one could reasonably expect.

The one time I had an unscheduled service and needed a loaner, I got a g/d Ford Escort from them via Enterprise, only because all their MINI loaners were out (probably cuzza people like YOU who get there early after a one-mile tow
).
But they've always done well by me otherwise.
Hope your MINI is swell and pretty when they're done with her.
