05 S, Transmission Leaking

Just had the clutch replaced, now I have gear oil leaking at the engine and transmission at the bottom. Mechanic is saying he didn't notice anything when they took it out but it wasn't leaking before. So he is going to charge me full labor to take it back apart and see what is wrong. very frustrating as it wasn't leaking before.

Sounds like it's either an input seal or rear main seal leak.

Unfortunately you're at the mercy of the shop, it's a he said she said situation right now.

Neither of the above seals just decide one day that they're going to leak profusely it is a slow developing leak. Chances are that one of them was leaking at the time of the clutch job but the mechanic doing the work was too negligent to catch them.

For the cost of replacing them at the same time as a clutch I'm surprised they didn't try to sell you on those components on the first visit.

I actually had them replace the main seal, the car only has 83k miles. I just bought it for 4k and now have another 1000 into it, looks like fixing to be another 600 for just this and the power steering pump is leaking like crazy LOL, I have plenty of time to replace that as i just got layed off. when it rains it pours

I've seen botched rear main installs, especially since the rear mains don't come with an install tool for whatever reason. I would say if they replaced the rear main that there is a 50/50 chance of you getting this done for free or part cost at most, (if they're a stand up shop).
