So I finished my 2004 rebuild and have been driving it every day since November. It's much more fun than the Jetta I was daily driving. I needed a new project so I picked up this 2005 to rebuild and sell. Notice I didn't say flip. I would be a horrible flipper of cars because I spend too much money on things (fuel filters, cabin filters, plugs, supercharger oil, trans oil, oil seals etc) to make a real profit but this isn't an income, it's a hobby and whoever buys this car will have a great car that will need nothing for a very long time. My goal is to make enough off the car to get a garage door opener for one of my doors in the shop.
This 2005 has some nice options on it. First of all, it has the chrono package which I have to say is really cool. I don't know if it beats out the giant speedo but it's cool. This also has a limited slip differential.
Things I WILL to do (besides the obvious body work). All fluids (oil, trans, brake, coolant, power steering), new tires, refinish (powder coat) wheels, supercharger service, all oil gaskets, water pump, new cabin, fuel filter, plugs, belt, custom vinyl black stripes for hood, new wipers, alignment.
Things I MIGHT do. 15% reduction pulley, aero grill. These things depend on what other unexpected expenses I run into during the build. I know what I should be able to sell the car for when done and this would be $250 that I would never recover. Hopefully it will still be in the budget though. I may swap the steering wheel and if it needs a clutch, the transmission with limited slip diff, into my car. I haven't made up my mind yet as my transmission only has 40,000 miles on it and this one has 86,000.
Anyway, no build thread is worth anything without pics. These are the internet pics that I have from Copart. The interior is very nice, the engine is unmolested in any way, it started right up after sitting for two months and purred like a kitten. It doesn't smell like it was a smokers car. There is not a spot of rust anywhere on the car, topside or underneath.
I got it home, got the door open. This should be the only challenging part of the job.
Do you own a body shop and paint booth for the bodywork? That interior looks sweet, I love the chrome line with anthracite. May I ask what you paid for it?

Nice find! I wish I could find one like that. Clamp her down on a frame rack, weld some tabs to the jamb area and do some pulls. A lot of that will come out (assuming the inner structure isn't compromised), then it's hammer and dolly time. The door shell is crushed, and I'd not trust it. Most of your labels (if not all) can be obtained through autodatalabels.com, including your VIN label.

Subbed. This will be fun.
I don't have a professional shop. I am blessed with a good job that allows me to play some. I (and my dad) spent a year to build my shop behind my house. It has a 10,000 pound and a 12,000 pound two post lifts inside. I wouldn't paint an entire car at once in there but it does really well doing individual panels.

I have a donor door an hour away from me. My best friend is a frame guy so whatever he tells me to do, I will do. I'm more the mechanic portion of repair but I'm trying to learn bodywork and paint. Fortunately I have good friends in the business. All these cars are learning experiences for me.
Great, I've got a Pepper white door if you want it.
The shipping would probably kill me but if my local door in black doesn't work out, I'll be in touch. I will hopefully be ordering my third pulley kit from you in the last 6 months!
By the way, anyone know how to quote multiple people in the same post without creating a separate post?
For multiple quotes, hit the "+ button next to the large quote button on all the posts you want to quote, then hit the quote button and it should include all of them in your reply.

Now, that's a garage! Very nice. Looking forward to watching your progress again and of course if you need anything be sure to let me know. I really need that garage set up now.
So a few updates with the car. A plan for the drivers side. We are going to replace the pillar and quarter panel. It will be cleaner, better, cheaper??? than attempting to repair it. I picked up a door today along with a new passenger side handle for 175. I am actually very happy with this as it includes the everything except the mirror which is fine on my door. I thought all I was getting was the shell and I was going to have to buy some parts to finish it as the window mechanism isn't currently working on the smashed door. So a nice bonus there for me.
The passenger rear quarter is easily repairable so no need for parts there except for the arch trim and the running lights behind the tires. I knew there was some suspension damage back there because the tire looked just a little off but I couldn't find what was bent. I could not find anything bent or broken so I was starting to think the alignment got knocked out of whack but my friend looked a little more closely than me and found the trailing arm mount was moved and slightly bent so for $100, I will order a new one of those.
That's the complete list of body and suspension damage so I'm pretty happy with that. No real unexpected damage which you always have figure you are going to find. My M Coupe had just a few thousand of unexpected extras so less than $200 on this car is a complete win in my book.
Other things to note upon further inspection. It must have had a recent brake job as there is a ton of pad life left. There is only one puddle of oil which is coming from the oil drain plug. I almost wish it was leaking from more spots as it makes it easier to spend the $$ for all new oil seals but I know if it's not leaking now, it will be shortly.

Thanks for the update , after the fix get it aligned , to see if you are cost to the alignment specs hopefully the damage did not bend something in the rear and you cannot get it into spec. That would be my worry.
