Here is a pic of the screen, is there a way to reboot the system so it goes back to normal or a link where I can get the software update from, I have no idea of the current version either.

It is very unusual for the Nav computer to lose its firmware programming. What is the condition of your car battery? If the voltage is low, Nav could start up into a bad state and never recover. To reset the unit, disconnect/reconnect the battery again. Or I believe it is on fuses F10 and F22 and you could pull those for awhile.

CD, +1 the battery could be low on voltage like in the link I posted, you might want to check that first. But seeing that screen , its like it lost it.

So if it takes longer does that mean the files or corrupt or didn't burn correctly?

Verify that you have no problems reading the disc files on a computer CD drive. Did you burn it at the slowest speed, from an iso image?

The Nav disc drive is finicky about reading R/W burned discs (vs factory manufactured discs). Sometimes people have needed to burn a copy on a different computer drive, or try a different brand of media. Make another copy and see if it works any better. There is also a possibility that the laser head in the Nav drive is failing, which is not unusual.

I burnt the disc at the slowest speed possible, I purchased an OEM BMW disc so I'll wait till I get that, the only problem now, I can't seem to eject the disc, any pointers?

Is there a disc in it already, lift up the flap and see if there is a disc in there. There is a reset on the older Mk4 dvd version, there was a pinhole on the front to reset it, on the MK3 CD driver i don't remember one.
