2005 R53 Daytime Running Lights Ceased Working

Hey, does anyone have any idea how to fix my daytime running lights. Just installed new H-7 bulbs after noticing both of my DRL's weren't working. I have Zenons for the nighttime lights. The fusible links are ok. Is there a relay I'm missing? At a loss because the regular lights work and the high beams (H-&'7) are working fine. HELP!!!

I have a 2005 r53s . Mine does not have daytime running lights. Have to use the stalk to get any lights other than fog lights to work.

DRLs on R50/R53 are dimmed high beam headlights. It is a programmable option that can be enabled by a dealer or shop using software such as NCS Expert.

OP

sure you had DRL b4 the bulb change??????

if you did, then the bulbs must be the issue .... perhaps they don't like running at the low power setting the GEN1 DRL function employs ?????

They are in the bottom of the light housing below the Xenons.

It is funny. Fuses are ok. I've checked every fuse that has lights associated with it. I've had DRL since I bought it new in '05. Not sure when they stopped working, I thought that both bulbs had burnt out.

Like I said, I've had these since it was new. So perplexing.

i definitly did have it before.
Good point. I think i may have an old bulb around where I've replaced both, but one bulb was still OK to use as a check. I replaced these with PIAA H7 Ion Yellow bulbs. i'm assuming these would work as DRL's.

did you verify a bulb issue? PIAA not waking up????

if not

car wasn't software reflashed for a service issue anywhere along the way was it?

If so, maybe they lost the DRL programming ..... it is something that can be turned on off

DRL turned off at one time maybe when there was a computer flash update by the dealer ?

I finally found the bulb and got the same results. Brights work but no running lights. I had the throttle body replaced and at that time they did a refresh of the software, so that must be it. It got turned off or not turn on at that point. Next stop is the dealer sadly.

Thanks everyone! As soon as I can I'll get to the dealer and have them take a look and let you know.
