Just curious how many other original owners were lurking on here.
I've stuck with my 06 r53 for a decade now (purchased October 05)
Edit = 107kmi
I was car shopping this summer but when it came down to it there was no new car worth swaping the mini for.
I admit the brz and wrx are as fun or more to drive, I really want an ecoboost mustang and a nicely equipped optima felt grown up but none were worth shelling out $25-30 to me.
I guess I just have to keep fixing the minI. I will draw the line at rust, and here in New England it will eventually be a problem.

You mentioned a lot of cars, but not a MINI? You decided to keep the one you had, but didnt look at a new one?
Im the origional owner, but its a week old, so I guess that doesnt count.

I admittedly haven't driven the 2015 3rd gen cars, the 2nd gen r56 were a big disappointment. The performance did improve but it got softer and lost that wild go-cart feeling that keeps me smiling in my r53. Also styling started to go toward ridiculous. Mini seems to have completely given up the enthusiast driver market. From reviews in car and driver and road & track the new Cooper s isn't in the same league as the gti, or fiesta st or focus st.( I think the Mazda 3 hatch also kicked mini's butt but I'm not positive).
Also mini quality issues with the first and second generation are a deal breaker. I obviously keep cars long term and I have no faith that a new mini would be a wise long term choice. I wasn't in the mood to test drive a mini when I was arguing with the dealer that my 3rd power steering pump in 100k it should be covered by under the extended warranty (which it isn't) and they gave me a $3000 quote to replace the clutch.
I have my original 06'. I have a little over 100k on it, and I just had a new engine put in it. I also had the supercharger rebuilt. I plan to keep it for a long time.

100k new engine! Please tell me this was for performance not engine failure. An engine shouldn't need rebuilding at 200k
I still have my 2003 Cooper s. 51k on the odo. it was cool to order it the way I wanted it, then track it's progress across the pond. I still have the goodies from the owner's welcome kit.

i would have thought there would be more, do s coopers have more probloms with those many miles. I saw a mini cooper s 04 the other day for 3,000 but it had 200,000 miles on the clock.
We might as well be an Original Owner. My wife picked up her JCW '06 R53 with 29K miles on it in '08 --- she now has 125K on it and many many $$ later, it's still on the road...52 miles/day...
