Used MINIs for new prices???

A local lot has a 04 MCS with about 8000 miles. It is decently equipped but not loaded. They are asking $27,000 for it! I told the salesman I could get a loaded 05 for about $25,000. He said that was the going rate. Is this true? Should I sell my 04 for a profit and buy two 05's?

Yep. We have a local lot with a 25K mile '03. Would spec to ~$25K, on the lot for $26K. Then again, you avoid the $2.5K markup, so you 'save' $1.5k!

The price seems high unless it has all of the options plus Nav.

Sport/Premium/leather adds up.

I'd say it might be worth closer to $22,000 to $23,000.

Remember, used cars are negotiable. Ordered MINIs really aren't. Offer cash for that "$27,000" MCS and I'll bet you can shave the price down to something more reasonable. Wave all the cash you want at the MINI dealer and all you'll get is a blank stare.

That's the going asking price here in S.F. Private party asking prices are about 1.5k less then the dealer at around 25-26k. Crazy..but then again, I waited a year and didn't pay any mark up or any crazy doc fees.

More or less a representation of the bayarea:

Hmm. So maybe it's time for me to take a cross-country trip with my MINI, sell it in SF for more than I paid for it, come back home to Florida and buy another.

Cool.

An 04 MCS w/o NAV, Leather and PDC had an MSRP of $24,149 before 12/31/04 and $24,549 after 1/1/05, including the destination charge. I find it unlikely that the lot paid more than MSRP for that car on trade, so even if you offered them 04 MSRP they should be making a profit.

If that car has all the options except the ones you've listed, I'd agree with minihune that $22k-$23k would be a fair price.

Hey, that's how America was built..go for it!

If the current trend keeps up, I might order a 2007 in 2006. Of course, any bmw or deriative is best avoided in it's first year. If you know what I mean.
