Glad to hear you got it started. The DDMs are notorious for not working with silicone tubes and really the best option is your stock intake hose if your going to use it. I have a brand new DDM that was given to me, but since I just had the K&N chromed and didn't want to use the stock hose I didn't use it. The engine damper on the passenger mount was made by Texas Speed Works and there is a lot of info in this site about them. We had one of those too and it worked great, but after going all out on the engine bay it was removed due to appearance.
I've seen the ddm used with silicon intake but seems that the o ky one that works is the samco. Still a little trimming neccesary. I may just order a stock hose from Way for now to finish it up and later in down the broad 're look at the silicone hose . The urban camo from Detroit tuned is looking pretty wicked tho.
That urban camo does look good!
Glad you got those house situation kind of figured out..
It's the home stretch!
Yea just debating on whether I want to try the samco. The venair kinda gave me a bad taste so far. And since I'm out the $88. Do I want to spend another hundred or just go with Way and spend $30 on an oem hose for the time being. At least till the bad taste goes away. Sounds like a plan
Since its not a hard job you'd want done the way you'd want it to stay (ie PITA location) I totally agree.
I'm sure you want to just get on the road and WMW dies have some fast shipping.
Just don't use minimania.......I've been waiting on a skid plate for 2 months now...not even a courtesy email.

Other than fluids.....it's fully ready to go ?
yea i understand the PITA postition. however i did order a stock hose, as i looked at venair hose again and im not happy with how tight it is up against the intercooler horn, and the breather hose or the inlet to the intake box dont line up at all. its a nightmare. so for now im going back to stock. i just put one on order from WMW. so hopefully be here in a few days.
and as far as i know other than fluids, all i have to do is put the front end back together, im about to start messing with that now. it will be nice to see it back on 4 wheels. working over the road like i was has certainly drug this project out, but then again it was a project. its nice to be in the home stretch.
I've been seeing a lot of people using green lately and that's not good.
Will keep it in mind. I have to run dexcool in my duramax. So I'm aware of checking for the right fluid.
Getting the front back together and I notice this plug. However its too short to go anywhere and I don't remember unplugging it. It's located on passenger side as well as driver side
i did some research as far as coolant. and found a few locally that could be bought. i ended up getting the prestone extended life. which meets the critical points as far as european cars and minis in general. so that is in the car now and i have done an initial test drive through the neighborhood.
i need to let the car cool down and check coolant level. and as of everything else, adding the the power steering fluid the pump is working where it was just empty before. so thats good news. and the only things i heard were a small exhaust rattle at low rpm upon start up and initial take off, and there was small sound coming from the dr side wheel well lit a dust plate making contact with the rotor. other than that need to blow the cob webs off and brake the dust of the brake system.
sure was a fun test drive. im even more in love now and that supercharger wine is so nice!
Also congrats on getting it all done. I bet you cant wait to clean and detail. Its a new MINI now.
I ended up using the prestone extended life as from the research for coolant I found that it had the same characteristics as what mini calls for. So went for that to get it out of the garage and do the out of the state inspection and titling done. Hopefully it won't hurt , but from what I found on various forums and from a mini owner who emailed prestone to verify that is was amine/nitrate/phosphate/silicate free. However this coolant is green :(
You should be ok, I know using other coolants might not be safe for head gaskets and other parts, that don't meet the requirement. I have not seen any very long term issues with that one, but its good insurance on the Blue. Coolant is not that costly between the Blue MINI coolant and other ones. I would make sure it meets all the same formula and requirements and should be fine. We dont carry it so I cannot comment on it. I have always used the Blue Coolant with no issues.

i will probably end up flushing the system, along with all fluids.
on another note. i keep getting a check filler cap light. but it comes and go's.
and i went to open the rear hatch today and had water dump out of it. as the mini sat in the drive last night during a rain. where could the water be getting in at?
other than that, the thing is a pleasure to drive and more power than i expected it to have. it really turns on once you get past 3500rpms!

This is Gen 2 , same cap a gen 1 , they now have the blue color end. Not green anymore, the gasket on it can fail or the locking function.
