R50/53 help identify aftermerket rear bumper
help identify aftermerket rear bumper
I will be getting my mini painted soon for a conclusion of restoration after my accident. My interior is refreshed with R56 leather and the handeling is refreshed and dialed in. So in prep for paint. I would like to go a little aggresive. JCW Aero front bumper and JCW GP side skirts. But for the rear I would really like the bumper from the green mini. But I can't find any refrence as to what it is. In my opinion it is hands down what the origional Aero rear bumper should have been.
Do you have any idea if that car is here in America or over seas somewhere? Might help track down vendor.. Most likely no one had just a rear bumper shipped from over seas. Car doesn't have the reflectors on the fender trim but they can be bought here in America.. Can you make out what it says on the side windows and or at the license plate?

After some detective work. the text that was all over the car is The Clipping Point. Which is a car Blog. the Blogs are gone. The builder of the car was a forum member named Dark Child. The title of the build was Project Kermit. The car was built in 2011-2012 and has since been sold-parted out. The car was located in malasia. The Bumper from what I could get from expired forum was an aftermarket fibergass and fit was so so. Still cant zero in who made it. but I think it was a japaneese company and NLA.
That's too bad it's NLA. Definitely is a cool looking bumper. Hopefully you're able to track down something else that may look as good as this one. Let us know what you find if that's what you plan to do.

I was about to say it definitely looks Japanese built. Japan doesn't require the reflectors, as mentioned above, and tends to add modern racing queues into their styling even when it isn't needed or functional.
If you're into this type of styling, you should check out Liberty Walk's rear bumper. The whole kit is definitely a little excessive..

but have DEEP pockets if looking at anything Liberty Walk produces..
Could always go one off custom with yours.. Those vents on the side would be easy enough and then add in a Diffuser either bought or custom fab-ed out of Alum.. Drill/cut some holes for LEDs
